In general, Tuovila defines forecasting as the art and science of expecting future
events. It involves taking previous data and projecting it into the future using mathematical
models, methods, or intuition. Forecasts are utilized for a variety of objectives, including
(2023) and Champion (2023) elaborate that demand forecasting is a technique by which
businesses predict future demand for a certain product or service. Businesses can more
accurately predict future demand with improved demand forecasting. With improved
demand forecasting, businesses can estimate future demand more effectively. As a result,
businesses may make more informed judgments in procurement, sales, and inventory
management, among other areas. If done right, it can bring about cost-savings,
improve their demand projections by studying historical data, market trends, and customer
behaviour. There are various algorithms available that can be used to identify patterns and
overstocks. Hellmuth-Sander also emphazises that demand forecasts should not only be
based on internal data. External factors such as economic indicators, weather patterns or
industry trends can have a significant impact on customer demand. By incorporating these
external factors into forecasting models, companies can improve the accuracy of their
forecasts.
Furthermore, Rheude (2023) believes that no one can forecast the future with total
accuracy. However, various demand forecasting methods that involve predictive analysis
may help you in making the right decision. Below are some types, methods as explained
by Rheude:
1. Passive demand forecasting. In this model, the user utilizes sales data from the
past to predict the future, incorporating data from the same season to project
future sales. This holds especially true for businesses experiencing seasonal
fluctuations.

3. Short-term Projections. This projection type forecasts the next three to twelve

understanding consumer behavior during crises like COVID-19 is crucial. Businesses can
utilize existing data such as POS sales, customer order history, inventory levels, and
supplier shortages. These data, when fed into forecasting models, reveal shifting trends
affecting operations. Additionally, publicly available data like virus trajectory, lockdown

As referenced in the research titled "Real Time Supply Chain Management System
for Multicast Corporation with Sales Forecasting" (2019), it is emphasized that companies
aiming to remain competitive and stay ahead in their business operations must implement
sophisticated systems integrated with their supply chain management. Such solutions play
a crucial role in monitoring transactions involving people, materials, data, and procedures
within the company through the use of technology. The introduction of the supply chain
management system has streamlined the process of ordering and monitoring transactions
online. Additionally, another study by Anlacan (2013) identifies several trends in supply
chain management (SCM) that have garnered attention, including customer-driven supply
chains, connected supply chains, risk management, and a total cost perspective. Despite
SCM being a broad and complex strategy, advancements in business and marketing

emerged as a significant factor contributing to these issues. From this study, it is stated that
forecasting using the 3 period SMA method makes it easier to determine drug demands in
the following period. This result is in accordance with the conclusion of Andriana's
research, which stated that the forecasting using SMA made it easier to determine the

Cai, T., Li, X., et al. (2022) explains the critical issue of inventory management in
the supply chain, emphasizing the importance of reducing inventory levels for long-term
cost savings. They highlight the role of improved forecasting accuracy through information
sharing to coordinate supply chain operations. Suppliers and retailers benefit from shared
sales forecasting and inventory information, leading to shorter delivery times, reduced
demand variations, and lower inventory and shortage costs. The study investigates the
associated errors.
Aman, Z., Ezzine, L., et al. (2018) emphasizes the crucial role of demand
forecasting in inventory management. They emphasize that inventory stock levels are
directly influenced by the accuracy of demand forecasts, and any inaccuracies can result in

locations are consolidated, and demand forecasting is conducted at the chain level. The
primary focus of the research is the development of a forecasting model aimed at reducing
availability. The paper employs various forecasting methods, evaluating their accuracy to
determine which methods, under specific circumstances, are most suitable for practical
applications.
Djaja, M. & Yuan, X-M. (2023) underscore the critical significance of integrating
Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Marketing functions to ensure the delivery of high-
quality services to customers. The authors argue that the absence of integration between
demand and supply functions may lead to underperformance for a firm. They elaborate on
the essential nature of combining these functions, where Marketing plays a crucial role in
addressing varying demands and identifying suitable product offerings for different
consumer segments. On the other hand, Supply Chain Management focuses on operational
aspects such as inbound logistics, outbound logistics, inventory management, and timely
deliveries. Thus, the authors emphasize the clear importance of integrating both functions.

BENEFITS
Initial investment
✔ In the first month, the initial investment amounting to ₱3,700.00 is sourced from
the monthly rates of electricity bills and internet connection fees. This
includes not only electricity bills and internet connection fees but also
additional costs such as transportation and food expenses. This is because the
system developers are already observing the operational system and workflow
of the pharmacy, as well as meeting with the admin and employees to discuss
✔ The total initial investment for the system development project amounts to
₱10,400.00. It is important to note that during the first year, all expenses are
Payback
✔ The payback period refers to the time it takes for an investment to generate
sufficient returns to cover its initial costs. Payback calculations are initiated
from the second year onwards, signifying the transition from investment to
returns. The interest rate of 3% per annum incorporated into the payback
of Aaron O'Neill published on Nov 17, 2023 at statista.com. This interest rate
adjustment ensures that the payback accounts for the depreciating value of
currency over time due to inflation, thereby maintaining the real value of
returns.

payback period and the total returns generated from the investment:
Given the initial investment of ₱10,400.00 and considering the payback scheme
starting from the second year onwards with a 3% interest rate per annum, we can

✔ Year 3: ₱577,529.24
✔ Year 4: ₱594,855.12
✔ Year 5: ₱612,700.78
Therefore, the total benefit in terms of revenue over the five-year period amounts
to ₱2,345,793.14. This represents the returns generated from the initial investment

Evaluation Results
The Likert scale survey results showed positive feedback on all features of
MedSync, with average scores above 4 out of 5. Both IT experts and Kingcares Pharmacy
staff rated the quality standards highly according to the FURPS criteria. The high scores in
all areas indicate that both groups agree on the project's effectiveness and potential benefits.
This positive feedback is a strong motivator for future implementation and further
development of the software. It shows that the proposed project meets the stakeholders'
expectations and requirements. Overall, the research findings provide a solid foundation
for continuing the project, backed by detailed primary and secondary data analysis.
