Employment Contract Sample Drafted For Class
This Employment Contract is made and entered into this 16th of December, 2024.
Between
Nile Breweries Uganda Limited having its Head Office at Plot 6-10 Port Bell Road, P.O Box 1345.
Kampala Uganda. (“Employer”)
And
Mr. Kikonyogo Sam of Plot 1222, Nabunya Road, Rubaga, P.o Box 210, Kampala Uganda(“Employee”)
WHEREAS, the employer intends to employ the employee, WHEREAS, the employee represents that
he is skilled in the field of Human Resource Management; and
WHEREAS, Employer relying on the above representation desires to engage Mr. Kikonyogo Sam who
desires to perform the duties of a Human Resource Manager who will be in control of the creation
and development of programs that improve the performance of employees and the output they
produce.
NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the mutual promises and agreements contained herein and
other good and valuable consideration, the sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, the Parties
intending to be legally bound hereby agree as follows:
The Employee is hired as a Human Resource Manager and shall carry out the duties and
responsibilities as set out in the attached Job Description, and as may be reasonably assigned from
time to time by the Employer. The Employee shall perform the job to the best of their abilities and in
accordance with the Employer’s policies.
ARTICLE 2 TERM.
The Employee’s employment will commence on 16thSeptember, 2024 and shall continue in full force
for a period of 5 years until its termination.
This contract is for an indefinite period unless terminated in accordance with the provisions of this
contract upon consent and mutual agreement of either parties or applicable law.
The Employee will be subject to a probationary period of [Duration] months. During this time, the
Employer may terminate the contract with 3 months’ notice or payment in lieu of notice. After the
successful completion of the probationary period, the Employee’s employment will be confirmed in
writing.
ARTICLE 5. REMUNERATION
The Employee shall receive a monthly gross salary of UGX 5,000,000 payable on the 25 th day of each
month. Any statutory deductions such as PAYE, NSSF, and any others as the law requires will be
deducted from the Employee’s salary.
The Employee is expected to work from 8am to 5pm totalling 40 hours per week, with a [Lunch
Break Duration] break each day. Overtime work will be compensated according to the Employer's
policy and in compliance with the labour laws of Uganda.
- Annual Leave: 24 days of paid leave for every 12 months of continuous service.
- Sick Leave: 7 days of paid sick leave per year upon presentation of a valid medical certificate.
- Public Holidays: The Employee will be entitled to all public holidays recognized in Uganda and as
marked on the annual calendar.
This contract may be terminated by either party under the following conditions:
- By the Employer: With 3 months or payment in lieu of notice, or immediately for gross misconduct
as defined by the company’s disciplinary procedures.
- By the Employee: The Employee may terminate this contract by giving 1-month notice or forfeiting
pay in lieu of the notice period.
- Termination for Cause: Immediate termination may occur for breach of contract, gross misconduct,
or any other justifiable reasons as per Uganda’s Employment Act.
ARTICLE 9. CONFIDENTIALITY
The Employee agrees to keep confidential all trade secrets, business information, and any other
proprietary information of the Employer, both during the period of employment and after its
termination.
The Employee agrees to adhere to the policies and codes of conduct of Nile Breweries Limited, as
outlined in the company’s employee handbook and other official documents.
Any disputes arising from this contract will be settled in accordance with the Employment Act of
Uganda, and in case of unresolved matters, the courts of Uganda shall have jurisdiction.
This contract may be amended or modified only by a written agreement signed by both parties.
This contract shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Uganda and
international conventions to which Uganda is a signatory or State party.
This contract constitutes the entire agreement between the parties and supersedes all prior
agreements or understandings, whether written or oral.
