Title: Instructor

Description: LAI-INS-NAT provides the training delivered to youth members of the Australian Army
Cadets seeking to advance down the Leadership and/or the Specialist Pathway. It provides the skills
to plan and deliver a lesson with simple content, concepts and stages.

Purpose: To provide the intermediate skills and knowledge needed for leadership and/or specialist
roles in the AAC.

The achievement of the required learning outcomes is the primary objective. This may require
variations to the suggested timings.

OUTCOME FOR PARTICIPANTS


On completion, the cadet will have the knowledge and skills associated with leadership and
instruction or specialised postings.

ELIGIBILITY
The Cadet has completed LCPL Leadership.

CONDUCT

Instructor will typically require approximately 8 hours of instruction in local choice of format (2 hour
nights, 3 hour nights, weekends, etc.) with a recommended minimum of an overnight activity. Lesson
timings are suggested but time allocation can be varied at local discretion.

ASSESSMENT
The CDC-LAI-NAT Assessment Tools Package contains the assessment tasks which require the cadet
to demonstrate their ability to perform the knowledge and skills as outlined in the level statement to
the standard required. A cadet will need to demonstrate they are to standard or higher in each of
the assessments to be deemed to have completed the CAP.

A CAP report will provide feedback to the cadet and their unit on how the cadet performed.

ACHIEVEMENT STANDARDS
The achievement standards underpin the learning outcomes and the level statements for Level 2 to
Level 4. The table below identifies essential knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes. It
outlines clear standards of what participants are expected to know and be able to do in Level 2 to
Level 4. It offers structures and processes by which instructors can provide continuity of study for all
participants.

Achievement standards are defined by the verbs in each learning outcome. A list of verbs can be
found in the Glossary.

LEVEL STATEMENTS
Level statements are summaries of the knowledge, understanding, skills, values and attitudes that have
been developed by cadets as a result of achieving the outcomes for each level of training.

LEVEL 2
Summary Cadets will have an understanding of the skills, knowledge and
values needed to participate in the Australian Army Cadets
Leadership and Instructor program as a cadet instructor with
simple lessons from either core or elective packages.

Knowledge and Level 2 cadets are able to plan a simple lesson, considering goals,
skills necessary training aids and safety considerations.

Level 2 cadets are able to deliver a simple lesson safely and


effectively.

Responsibility This level allows the cadet the responsibility to instruct at a simple
level.
