PEV SPEAKING EVALUATION QUESTIONS marks-10

Guidelines

1 List of questions to be shared with students

2 Students will prepare 3 questions from Part-A and 3 questions from Part-B.

3 On the day of CA3 in class, Faculty member will ask 2-3 questions(compulsory 1 question from Part-A,
compulsory 1 question from Part-B)

4 Speaking excel file with rubrics (CEFR level) to be maintained

5 No CA to be conducted for any absentee

PART- A

1. Talk about the most challenging engineering project that you have been involved with during past year.
2. What do you enjoy most/least about engineering?
3. What new engineering specialty skills have you developed during the past year?
4. Describe a time when you confronted a problem that really tested your engineering know-how.
5. What is your overall career objective? Do you see yourself working in engineering ten years from now?
If not, what do you think you will be doing?
6. Give me an example of a time in which you were effective in doing away with the “constant
emergencies” and “surprises” that engineers often face.
7. Give me an example of a time when you applied your ability to use analytical techniques to define
problems or design solution.
8. Some of the best-engineered ideas are born out of an individual’s ability to challenge, others’ ways of
thinking. Talk about a time when you were successful in doing this.
9. Give an example of something that you have learned from a mistake that you have done.
10. Talk about a time when a project team effort that you were involved in failed.
11. Describe a specific engineering project that you were responsible for that required a lot of interaction
with a variety of people over a long period of time.
12. What do you get out of engineering that you couldn’t get from any other kind of work? Explain
13. To whom did you turn for help the last time that you ran into a major technical problem, and why did
you choose that person?
14. In the field of engineering, priorities often change quickly. Give an example of a time when that
happened. How did you handle it?
15. How can you best use your engineering education to grow? Explain
16. What personal characteristics do you feel are necessary to be a successful engineer?
17. What single technical skill or ability is your best asset? Explain
18. What kinds of information would you request or require before you felt you could do justice to a
project assignment? Explain
19. Describe two specific technical contributions you would expect to make during the first six months on
the job if you joined your dream company.
20. Talk about the time or situation when you had to make a quick decision and why?

PART- B

21. What is your greatest failure, and what did you learn from it?
22. What do you like about the person? Talk about the achievements of the person? How has the person
affected your life?
23. Describe your hometown. What is special about it? Compare it to other cities in the world?
24. What kind of relations do you have with your neighbors? Do you help out your neighbors?
Should a person have good relations with his or her neighbors?
25. What kind of music do you like? When do you listen to it? How does it change your mood?
26. What are the different means of communication? Which is your favorite means of communication?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using it?
27. Which is your favorite room in the house? Why do you regard it as the favorite? What changes do you
want to make in it?
28. Why do people wear uniform? Have you ever worn a uniform? What role does uniform play in a
person’s life
29. What kind of clothes do you like? How much money do you spend on clothes? Are you brand-
conscious?
30. What type of movies do you like? Compare different types of movies? How do you feel after watching
movies?
31. Which is your favorite electronic device? When do you use it? How do other people make use of it?
32. Describe a sports event you attended? What was the best part about the sports event? Explain
33. Which is your favorite website? Why is it your favorite website? How often do you use it?
What would your life be without it?
34. What are the common diseases in your country? Is healthcare expensive in your country?
How should the government deal with this problem?
35. When do you do the exercise? What exercise do you do? How do you feel after doing exercise?

Which electronic newspaper do you read? What part of the newspaper do you like? How often do you
read the newspaper?

36. Talk about the kind of accommodation you live in? How long have you lived there? What do you like
about living there? What sort of accommodation would you most like to live in?
38 Describe something you own which is very important to you. Where you got it from? How long you
have had it? What you use it for; and explain why it is important to you.

39 Do you think advertising influences what people buy? Is it right to say that ‘All that glitters is not gold.’’
40 What is your principle in life? What is your philosophy of life? How does your philosophy of life help
you in your routine life?
