Present continuous tense

(also known as the present progressive tense) is used to describe


actions that are currently happening at the moment of speaking or
actions that are ongoing.

It is formed using the present tense of the verb "to be" (am/is/are)
followed by the present participle (the -ing form) of the main verb.

FORM OF PRESENT CONTINUES TENSE

=> Subject + am/is/are + verb-ing

Examples:

1. I am reading a book

2. She is cooking dinner.

3. They are playing soccer.

4. We are studying for our exams.

5. He is watching a movie.

These sentences indicate actions that are taking place right now or
ongoing actions.

Uses of Present Continuous Tense:

1. Current Actions: It describes what someone is doing right now.

• Example: "They are eating lunch."

2. Ongoing Actions: It can also refer to actions that are happening


over a period of time
• Example: "I am learning Spanish this semester."

3. Future Plans: It can indicate planned future events.

• Example: "We are meeting friends tomorrow."

4. Temporary Situations: It describes situations that are not


permanent.

• Example: "He is living in New York for the summer."
