ROLE OF THE PRESIDENT
1. Appointing the Prime Minister:
The President’s most important role would be that of choosing the Prime Minister, after the general elections. 2. Approval of Decisions: The President of India approves or passes all the laws or big decisions passed by the Parliament. All decisions are signed by him. 3. World Politics: The President is the face of the country. He meets with rulers of different countries to hold talks or negotiations. 4. Commander-in-Chief of the Army: The President oversees the activities of the armed forces of India. He has the power to appoint the chiefs of the Army, Navy or Air Force. 5. Emergency Powers: The power for declaring Emergency in our country lies only and only with the President. 6. The President awards all Indian citizens for their exemplary feats in their respective fields. The Param Vir Chakra, Maha Vir Chakra, Vir Chakra, the Padma awards and the Bharat Ratna are all bestowed on people by the President.
