Preliminary Activities TEACHER’S ACTIVITY LEARNER’S ACTIVITY
Good morning, everybody! Good morning, Ma’am.

Let us all stand up for a prayer. Let us pray first. Amen.

A. Preliminary Let me check your attendance.

Activities Ms. Secretary is absent today? No one is absent today.

Ok, thank you.

Please pick up the pieces of paper under your chair, put them in your
pocket for now, and then sit properly.
B. WIRE

First Period
C. WISE/DRILL I'd like to remind you class to actively listen, focus, and participate in
our lesson and activities for today. Please do not answer me in chorus
unless I say so. If you have questions, kindly raise your hand. All clear?
Yes Ma’am.
Before we start our day, let us have first a math trick. Do you want a
math trick?
Yes Ma’am.
Are you ready?

Please get a piece of paper and ball pen. Write your month number
from your birthday. For example, if your birthday is June then your
month number is 6.

Then, multiply by 5.

Next, add 6.

Multiply the total by 4.

Add 9.

Multiply by 5 once again.

Then, add your birth date. If you were born on the 7th, then add 7.

And last, subtract 165.

You will surprised cause you will have the month and day you were
born.
Yes Ma’am.
Are you done?
I have noticed that in
What did you notice in the trick? mathematics you just have to
follow the instruction for you
to get the correct answer.

Exactly, Very Good!

So, before we proceed to our next topic, let us have a short Our last topic is about the
review of what we discussed last meeting. So, who among you introduction of integers.
still remember our last topic?

Very good. What do you mean by integer? Integers are a set of positive
and negative numbers.
D. Review the
previous lesson Very good again. How will you define the absolute value of a The absolute value of a number
number? is its distance from zero to the
number line.

Okay, Thank you. It feels great that you still remember our last
topic.

It seems that you have fully understood our last topic, now we
will proceed to the next. But before we formally start our lesson
I will show you a video clip entitled “Application of Integers in
Real Life”. While watching the video, you’re going to take note
Yes Ma’am.
of what you have noticed in the video. Is that clear?

If that is so, here is the video.

E. Motivation (after the video presentation)

including or What can you say about the video the video? The video shows us how
presenting new integers are being used in this
lesson world.

Very Good. Another? The video tells us that we don’t

have to hate mathematics
because it is already part of us,
whether we like it or not, math
is around us.

Excellent! We can’t deny the fact that almost all of the students
nowadays hate mathematics a lot. But why? Though

purpose for the math. When we are eating, taking a bath, or even when we

myself clear?

4. -10 x 10 = 100

H. Discussing new Now, let us start our discussion. Today we are going to discuss
concepts and the four operations on Integers. What are the four operations on
practicing new integers? The four operations on integers
skills #1 are addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division.
Very Good!
There are rules for adding integers.

Rules for Adding Integers

1. Adding the same signs, keep it signs
Just remember:
2A’s → Add and Affix
a.) Add the numbers
b.) Affix the sign

Example:
1. 4 + 5 = 9
2. (-3) + (-7) = -10

2. Different signs, subtract and carry the sign of the

number with the higher absolute value.
Just remember:
ASH- Absolute Value, Subtract, Higher Absolute Value

Example:
1. 5 + (-2) = 3
|5| + |-2|

2. 3 + (-10) = -7
|3| + |-10|
None Ma’am.
Do you have any questions about adding Integers?

Rules For Subtraction

Formula: a - b = a + (-b)
In subtracting integers, change the sign of the subtrahend then
apply the Rule of Addition
Just remember:
KSOA – Keep, Switch, Opposite, Add

Example
1. 9 - 5 =
9 + (-5) = 4
|9| |-5|

2. 4 - 12 =
4 + (-12) = -8
|4| |-12|

3. 8 - (-3) =
8 + 3 = 11
|8| + |-3|

4. (-13) - 5 =
(-13) + (-5) = -18
|-13| |5|

5. (-14) - (-12) =
(-14) + 12 = -2
|-14| |-12|
None Ma’am.
Very good, do you have any questions about subtracting
integers?

I. Discussing new Let’s now proceed in multiplying and dividing integers. Here are
concepts and the rules:
practicing new 1 The product of two integers with like signs is positive.
skills #2 Example:
a. (5)(3) = 15
b. (-2)(-5) = 10

2 The product of two integers with unlike signs is

negative.
Example:
1. (4)(-3) = -12
2. (-10)(8) = -80

1 The quotient of two integers with like signs is positive.

Example:
1. 12/6 = 6
2. -25/-5 = 5

2 The quotient of two integers with unlike signs is

negative.
Example:
1. -40/8 = -5

Since you already understand our lesson, Let us have our final
activity. The right side will be group 1 and the left side will be
group 2. Make at least 3 examples of the operation of integers
that can be applicable in real-life situations. The group leader
will present the answer and explain in front of the class. This will
be your grade on your recitation. I will give you 3 minutes to
finish the task.

Is that clear? Yes Ma’am.

Very well said. I think you already know how to add, subtract,
multiply, and divide integers. So please get 1/4 of the papers and
answer the following.

Since you now have full knowledge, I have here something for you to answer. Please get one and
pass it around.

DIRECTION: Read each question carefully. Choose the letter of the correct answer and write it in the space
provided before each number.

c. 2
d. - 138
______2. Which of the following equations is true?
a. -12 – 7 = -5
b. 12 x 3 = 39
c. -13 x 5 = 65
d. none of this
______3. Which of the following equations is not true?
a. -24(3) = -72
b. -12 + (-5) = -17

Subtraction of Integers, Multiplication of Integers, and Division of
Integers.
d. none of this

Class, time’s up.

Let’s check your paper.
Everyone, exchange your paper with your seatmate.

Here are the answers.

1. b
2. d
3. d
4. a
5. d

Class, are you done? Yes Ma’am.

Okay, who got the score of:
5?
4?
3?
2 and below? None Ma’am.

Very good! Keep up the good work.

For your assignment, make your own five examples of each operation on integers. Write it in 1 whole sheet
