The Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) is the head of the institution. Below him there is the

(presenters, reporters, news editors, studio technician, education coordinator, receptionist
and the ICT attendant) are under the director of operations.

• Help in recording and editing of radio programs. Due to the Covid-19 measures, all
clients cannot get access to the studio one on one. This has forced them to record their
programs in advance after which it will be edited and aired later. The ICT team helps
in making this a success.
• Helping the Journalism and Mass Communication attaches through some ICT
related tasks. The main purpose for industrial attachment is to gain skills in your area
of study and learn how to interact with people. Since Journalism entirely depends on
ICT, the ICT team helps them whenever they are in need.
• Updating sofwares. Due to the emerging trends and increasing innovations in ICT it is
advisable to be updated always. The teams check whether there are update to the
current softwares at the institution and look for a perfect way to acquire them.
• Creating of Promos and advertisements. They are also tasked with creating of
promos and advertisements that are aired at Lubao Fm.
• Carrying out printing and photocopying services for the institution, staff and
clients. They also offer printing and photocopying services as part of their cyber
business operation.
i. Audio recording and editing for clients. Due to the covid -19 pandemic, not all clients,
presenters and visitors were able to go on air live, therefore some programs were being
recorded and later played on air by the few presenters who were present at the studio.
ii. Designing tasks using Microsoft Office Application Programs. I was also task with some
designation tasks including creation of pictorial adverts which were there after uploaded
to the website and creation of host's show script using Microsoft PowerPoint.
iii. Configuration, repair and maintenance of networks. I was tasked with extension of
network cables, repairing them and configuring them so as to make sure they are serving
their purpose accordingly.
iv. Repair and maintenance of computers. Tasks under repair and maintenance of
comp4uters included blowing of dust using the blowers, changing of the power supply,
replacement of the CMOS battery, RAM expansition, slaving the hard drives and
changing/replacing the CD - ROM.
Some memory management practices like disk defragmentation and disk cleanup were
also among my assigned tasks
v. Customer ICT support. I was assigned to help in both online and offline customer
support at Witaba Foundation ICT Center Cyber.
Online services included KRA services, E-Citizen services, E-mail services, Results slips
among others.
vi. I was also tasked with configuring computer for easy sharing of data/files using the
Ethernet cables since all the computers were connected to the same network. This task
also included installation of wireless drivers for wireless sharing of files between
computers.
The institution also had a lot of networking and cabling since the entire ICT Center had
iii. Customer ICT support. Due to availability of the Cyber Cafe at the institution of was
able to gain some news skills in Customer ICT support as well as perfecting in the
iv. Perfection of practical and theoretical skills in the use of Microsoft Office
Application Programs. Due to some assigned task that included the use of
Microsoft Office Applications from the institution and clients who visited
The activity greatly impacted positively to my knowledge and skills in the use,
installation and management of all Computer Application Programs. This was made
possible by the large number of computers at the institution that I had to interact with.
vi. Computer - Based Networking Skills. Under Computer – Based Networking Skills,
I gained a lot from Lubao Fm’s operations Director who is a profession in computer
science and Information Technology.

3.3 HOW THE CHALLENGES WERE SOLVED
• Sometimes the Director was forced to arrange a special interactive section with
attaches on weekends. During that period we (attaches) got the opportunity to ask a
lot of questions and the director himself was more than willing to answer and chip in
with assistance.
• The director also used to borrow the networking tools from a friend over the
weekends to make sure we at least get to interact with the tools and learn how to
use them practically.
• The institution is highly equipped with ICT equipment and I therefore recommend
my Learning Institution to advise and encourage most of the ICT students to get
attached during their Industrial attachment.
3.5 RECCOMENDATION FOR THE
ATTACHMENT COMPANY
• The institution should at least employ an ICT attendant to help the director in carrying
out ICT related tasks as well as helping the attaches through their difficult areas.
• The Institution should also purchase their own networking tools so that the attaches
can get to learn and perfect their networking skills during their free time on their own.
• Blowing dust from the machine. Blowing dust from the machine is one of the
frequently performed management practice. I used to blow dust from all the machines
at least once per week.
• Updating of the antiviruses. Frequent updating of the antiviruses was a key data
security practice that I carried out. The most common antiruses that I interacted
with included Smadav and Kaspersky.
• Audio recording and editing. Audio recording and editing using adobe
audition software was also one of my assigned tasks. This was due to the
covid – 19 protocols that made it difficult for everybody to get access to
the studio one on one.
8
• Repair and maintenance of printers. I was also tasked with making sure
that the printer is in the right working condition as well as refilling the ink
whenever the ink levels go down.
