Question No.1 is compulsory
Answer any Four from the remaining questions
All questions carry equal marks

Time : Three hours Maximum : 70 marks

1. a) What do you mean by standard form of LPP?


b) What are the objectives of inventory control?
c) Critical path analysis.
d) Describe a queuing model.
e) Give the mathematical formulation of transportation problem.
f) Discuss briefly the various types of replacement problems
g) What are the situations which make the replacement of items necessary?
2. a) Describe the importance and scope of OR. Explain LPP Formulation.
b) Solve the following Linear Programming Problem using graphical Method
Maximum Z=20x1+30x2
Subject to constraints : 2x1+3x2≤120
x1+x2≤35
2x1+1.5x2≤90 and x1,x2≥0
3. a) Explain the importance of sequencing problem. What are the various demand of solving
sequencing problems? Briefly explain any one.
b) Four men are available for performing five different jobs. From the historical records
the time(in hours) taken by each to do a Job is known and is given below:

5. a) In a store with one server, 10 customer arrive on an average of 6 minutes. Service is
done for 12 customers in 7 minutes, find
(i) The average no of customers in the system
(ii) The average queue length
(iii) The average time a customer spends in the store.
(iv) The average time a customer waits before being served.
b) Discuss in brief replacement procedure for the items that deteriorate with time.
6.a) Find the optimum order quantity for a product or which the price breaks are as follows:

The monthly demand for the product is 400 units. The storage cost is 20% of the unit cost of
the product and the cost of ordering is Rs.25/-
