5 Contents of the version

This version 4.1 contains all service packs preceding version 4.0 SR1. The changes that have been
made in these service packs can be read in the PIs released earlier. The following modifications and
functions have been included:

5.1 New operating system

This version is compatible with 2 new operating systems:
Windows 7 / 64 bits
Windows server 2008 R2 / 64 bits
Be careful, because this version is not compatible with Windows Server 2003.
A service release will follow, adding this compatibility.

5.2 CASE Vision - CASE Vision Importer

nPO 4.1 and its tools have been developed in synchronisation with the upcoming release of CASE
Suite 2.6 and is fully compatible with all its improvements.
New functions have been implemented in CASE Vision to increase the productivity in the design
phase like creating models or cluster.
For more details, see the Product Info on CASE Suite 2.6 and the linked documentation.

5.3 nPO manager

nPo Manager will help the user to find everything he needs to create a novaPro Open project as
quickly and easily as possible.
nPO Manager provides an easy access to all tools, manage the interaction between the tools,
manage Addons and so on.

After a scan of the disk, the list of the found projects allows you to start or edit one of them.

DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 3 / 17

DoNr.: D100083803
When a project is running, the main data are displayed.
The standard tools are also available for the running project, such as:
ZP,
nPO diagnose,
RUS,L

The addons tab gives the possibility to manage addons, install them if necessary and add the
commands in the project files.

DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 4 / 17

DoNr.: D100083803
To add productivity, the user can add his own tools or links to documents in the ribbon.

nPO manager can run in the background of nPO.

It is also possible to import scve, EDE or fbc files directly.

DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 5 / 17

DoNr.: D100083803
The import function starts CASE Vision Importer.

The “tag edit” function, which allows you to modify the tag settings, is integrated in the nPO manager
and disappears from the nPO studio ribbon.

The icon is the same as before and the functions have been updated to support UTF8 and 64
characters.

DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 6 / 17

DoNr.: D100083803
5.4 nPO tools

With the development of CASE Vision Importer, there is no need for further use of UCVT-Converter,
so it will be removed from the nPo 4.1 DVD and removed from the nPO Ribbon.
Tag Editor has been updated and all the necessary modifications for the support of 64 characters
length and UTF8 have been done accordingly.
Tag Editor is now available on nPO Manager and is no longer in the nPO Menu.

5.5 nPO Diagnose

nPO Diagnose brings an evolution for Windows Server 2003 and bugfixes.
nPo Diagnose does not support Windows 7 and Windows 2008 Server.

5.6 UTF-8 Support

In the last version of CASE Engine, all the BACnet objects for the stations (stations name, tag,
alarms) are encoded in UTF-8 format.
In the engineering process, by using the object generator tool, it is possible to create the tag and the
alarms automatically.
This feature applies in:
• The tag: Name + Description
• The alarm: Family + Description
• Station name
• User name + Description

This feature also applies in:

• the BACnet use:
o the Object Generator
o BACstac
• the modules in nPO:
o Audit Trail
o Web
o Trend
o WebScheduler
DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 7 / 17
DoNr.: D100083803
Note
The CoDeSys API is limited to ANSI and will not be able to support Unicode string. A new table has
been added in the Studio to display the relations between tag name (short and long name) and the
CoDeSys variables.

Note
Most of the current OPC clients and servers do not support UTF8 characters (Unicode characters are
usually replaced by ‘?’). What has been decided is to generate a unique short name (UTF8
characters – and only UTF8 characters – will be replaced by ASCII alpha characters), and to use this
short name in our OPC server. The current dialog has been modified to display a correspondence
between the short tag and the long tag name.

5.7 BACnet

5.7.1 New BACstac

To be compatible with the 64 bits operating system, we have changed the BACstac’s version and
upgraded it to 6.
Because the installation is different, we strongly recommend that you use the the nPO_manager.

Follow these steps:

Now we have to configure the BACstac; to do so, use the nPO manager function "Edit BACstac", but
first restart nPO manager.

DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 8 / 17

DoNr.: D100083803
The configuration is the same as before.

5.7.2 BACnet Object Windows

A BACnet-specific view window is added. This window will be accessible from an image as the
default custom action (so available for any image object). To achieve this, the custom actions
mechanism of novaPro Open has been modified to be web enabled. The default custom action,
which is currently the “Object Property Browser”, will be replaceable by this new “BACnet Object
Windows”. To sum up, the window is displayed on a right click.

This window displays several tabs to bring overview of object state:

- Identification: name, id, description
- Events: all intrinsic reporting/event-related properties
- Present value: present value, priority array
- Other properties: all standard properties that do not fit in the previous group
- Proprietary properties

A refresh button is available to reread all the properties. This window will be available from the web.
This window is generic and not specialised by object type.
DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 9 / 17
DoNr.: D100083803
Writable properties can be modified according to user rights.

The following parameters must be added in the Apptune file.

- IMG_CUSTOM_OBJECT_PROPERTY=<BACnetUI.jar><com.elutions.bacnet.ObjectViewAction>
- ALARM_ALLOW_END_ACK=YES
- IMG_ALARM_INDEXING=YES
- WEB_SCHEDULER_ENABLED=YES

5.7.3 Separate alarm definition for “OOS” and “Overridden”

The alarm definition for “OOS” and “Overridden” is currently the same as the one defined for
“COMERR”. A specific definition for each alarm type has been introduced. This definition will be
editable from a new button in the BCC. This definition is stored inside the BCC configuration file.

The behaviour can be defined for each alarm.

DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 10 / 17

DoNr.: D100083803
5.7.4 COVProperties
The COV management will be improved by introducing the following parameters (for COVP mode
only):
- Array index
- COV increment

For Each properties from type reel that support COVP, generate Tags with following format:
!U<device-instance>.<object-type>.<object-instance>.<property-id>.<array-index>,cov_increment=<cov_increment>

For Each properties from type non-reel that support COVP generate Tags with following format:
!U<device-instance>.<object-type>.<object-instance>.<property-id>.<array-index>

Example: Tag address in nPO

!U103.AO.20301.384,cov_increment=1

5.7.5 Backup & restore preparation time properties have changed

The ids of preparation time properties have changed. The new ids must be used at first attempt and
then fallback to previous id for compatibility reasons.

5.7.6 Device restart procedure

A new specification of device startup/restart procedure is introducing the broadcasting of a specific
unsolicited COV notification to warn other devices of the restart. The BACnet will intercept this event
in order to:
- raise a specific “Device restart” alarm that will have its specific definition editable inside the
BCC
- trigger all re-initialisation related to this device: COV subscription, alarms state recovery

DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 11 / 17

DoNr.: D100083803
The restart event is displayed in the event journal.

Re-subscribes are done

N.B.: Firmware V2.2 must be installed on the devices.

5.7.7 Inhibit a BACnet Alarm

A BACnet alarm inhibition capacity is needed. The inhibition is based on objects and can be done
object by object.
The inhibition is editable through a global window with user interaction. A list view shows all the
devices and objects that are available. An icon indicates if the object is inhibited or not. A field is
available to allow easy filtering/search by object name.

DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 12 / 17

DoNr.: D100083803
The user chooses an object and clicks on a button to inhibit or enable its alarm. Inhibiting an alarm
means that it is not routed to novaPro Open. It is ignored and dropped before invoking the event
filters or alarm rules mechanism. The BACnet object itself is not affected at all: none of its properties
are changed regarding its alarm, if inhibited or not. This window is accessible with a fast-action
trigger inside an image. It will be available from the web, too.

5.7.8 BACnet Object generator/groups permission Manager

BACnet Object generator does not support the “group’s permission manager” for tags. The “Edit
groupsL” button allows you to set up a group in tag definition (like it is done for alarm definition).

DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 13 / 17

DoNr.: D100083803
5.7.9 BACnet Object generator Multistate
BACnet Object generator previously generated state texts inside text table. Now it is done using
“Multistate” properties of the tags.

5.7.10 Include BACnet Server in nPO

Currently, the BACnet server identifying novaPro Open on the BACnet network is handled as a
separate program that has to be started with the application. This program has been merged with the
driver itself for easier integration.

For new application:

- The default name of the server is the same as the name of the PDM.
- The default device id is the same as the station id
- The default process id is the same as the device id.

DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 14 / 17

DoNr.: D100083803
Old applications will keep their specified BACnet device name and id.
Firstly, the BACnet server must be deleted from the “startup application”. Then restart and execute
the application upgrade tool.

5.8 Integration of the CMTOD add-on

The tool CMTOD (ControlMaestro Trend on Demand) allows you to build and display automatically a trend from
an image.

The user can select in the image:

• The display period for the trend (Runtime, 1h, 7h, 1 day, 7 days, L)
• The variables

Refer to the documentation.

CMTOD also works on the web under some restrictions (see help file).

5.9 Hungarian language

Sauter is promoting nPO in Hungary. So the Hungarian language is now available.

5.10 Known issues

On a 64-bit operating system, the installation of framework 1.1 generates an input in the ISAPI filter
from IIS.
This input leads to problems in the use of the web application. It must be deleted.

DB-ID: 604190 Rev.: 01 / Vers.: 01 15 / 17

DoNr.: D100083803
