Chibi Baby Venusaur v2
Supplies:
● Body, Ears, Arms & Legs Yarn - Oxford Bebe - Baby Green ( Fingering Weight - 1)
● Leaves Yarn - Jubileeyarn Minnesota Cotton Select - Limeade Green ( Sport Weight -2)
● Flower Petals Yarn - Red Heart Designer Sport - Blush Rose ( Light Weight - 3)
● Flower Center Yarn - Oxford Bebe - Baby Yellow (Fingering Weight - 1)
● Flower Stem Yarn - Oxford Super Sport - Taupe (Sport Weight- 2)
● 2.5 mm crochet hook
● Fiberfill
● Black 10 mm safety eyes
● Tapestry needle
● Blush makeup & small make-up eyeshadow brush or q-tip
● Scissors
The finished Venusaur amigurumi is about 6.9 cm (2.75 inches) tall and 6.35 cm (2.5 inches)
wide. Size is subject to change depending on the yarn weight used.
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
st = stitch
sc = single crochet
inc = increase (2 sc in one st)
dec = decrease (2 sc together)
sl st = slip stitch
blo = back loop only
hdc = half double crochet stitch
dc = double crochet stitch
tr = treble crochet stitch
BODY:
Crochet with baby green yarn. The body is crocheted from head down. Stuff as you go with
fiberfill, but make sure when you get to the bottom of the body not to overstuff so it can sit
upright.
● RND 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
● RND 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
● RND 3: (sc in next, inc) repeat 6 times [18]
● RND 4: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
● RND 5: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 6 times [30]
● RND 6: (sc in next 4 st, inc) repeat 6 times [36]
● RND 7: (sc in next 5 st, inc) repeat 6 times [42]
● RND 8-13: sc in all 42 st [42] (Between RND 10-11, spaced out by 10 st between each
other, insert 10mm safety eyes)
● RND 14: (sc in next 5 st, dec) repeat 6 times [36]
● RND 15: (sc in next 4 st, dec) repeat 6 times [30]
● RND 16: (sc in next 3 st, dec) repeat 6 times [24]
● RND 17: (sc in next 2 st, dec) repeat 6 times [18]
● RND 18: (sc in next 2 st, inc) repeat 6 times [24]
● RND 19: (sc in next 3 st, inc) repeat 6 times [30]
● RND 20: (sc in next 4 st, inc) repeat 6 times [36]
● RND 21-27: sc in all 36 st [36]
Flower:
Start with baby yellow colored yarn. We are starting with the center of the flower.
● RND 1: 10 sc in magic ring [10]
● RND 2: 2 hdc in all 10 st [20]
Switch and continue with blush colored yarn to start making the petals.
● RND 3: sc in each st [20]
● RND 4: (skip next sc, (dc, 4 tr, dc) in next sc, skip next st and slip stitch in next) repeat
for 5 petals
● Fasten off with a sl st and sew in tail into flower to hide.
Stem:
Crochet with taupe colored yarn.
● RND 1: 6 sc in magic ring [6]
● RND 2: (inc) repeat 6 times [12]
● RND 3: sc in all 12 st blo [12]
● RND 4-6: sc in all 12 st [12]
● Fasten off with a sl st in last st and keep long tail for sewing later. Stuff the inside a bit
of the stem with polyfill.
Sew the open portion of the stem to the bottom center of the flower. Sew all the leaves under
the stem. Make sure all four of them make a ‘x’ sign underneath the stem that the leaves curve
is facing downward as if the leaves are curving around Venusaur.
Lastly, now with flower that has the stem and leaves on it, sew it at the bottom back of your
amigurumi.
(Note: This will probably be the hardest part to sew on. You can use pins to help hold pieces in
place on your Venusaur’s body while sewing)
With the blush on your make-up brush or q-tip make little circles with the make-up right under
the end of each eye (far right of the right eye and far left of the left eye).
VOILA! You have yourself a Chibi and most of all Kawaii Venusaur!!!
