2023 Spring Semester
Homework is assigned every class. Check the schedule every day for assignments that
are due.
In order to receive full points, submit assignments by the beginning of the class.
Homework submitted after the deadline will receive a 30% deduction.

Attendance/Tardy Policy:
It is critical that students attend classes regularly. Your final grade will be dropped
0.5% for each absence. For example, if you miss 2 classes in total during the
semester, 1% will be deducted from your final grade. Serious illness is considered as
excused absence, only when written proof is submitted.
Likewise, 0.2% will be deducted if you are late for class. You must be on time for
classes. Be in class by the time the start bell rings.
A student who is more than 25 minutes late for a class is considered absent from
the class rather than tardy.
Excused absence may be granted only when written proof is submitted.

considered “late”. For a late submission, there will be a 50% deduction if submitted before
the next class starts. If submitted in or after the next class, no points will be awarded. Also,
there will be a deduction if homework is incomplete, or if homework does not reflect your
mastery of the subject.

2. Quiz
Frequent quizzes on vocabulary and grammar. Please note that you take vocabulary quizzes
as part of your preparation for the next lesson, while you take grammar quizzes as a review
of the previous lesson. The two lowest quiz scores will be dropped in calculating the final
grade. There will be no make-ups for missed quizzes.

class are essential because your preparation/review will directly affect your performance in
the classroom. In-class assignments (e.g., show and tell, skit presentation, dictation) will
also be graded as your performance in class. You cannot open the textbook or take notes

unless so instructed. Try to show off how much you have prepared for the day, and do not be
afraid of making mistakes. There will be a deduction if your active participation is not
reflected in performance, such as using a smartphone, chatting in English with classmates,
or leaving the classroom too often.
