GENERAL INSTRCUTIONS:
i. This question paper comprises of 39 questions in 5 sections
ii. All questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice is provided in some
questions. A student is expected to attempt only one of these questions.
iii. Section A consists of 20 objective questions carrying 1 mark each.
iv. Section B consists of 6 Very Short questions carrying 02 marks each. Answers to
these questions should be in the range of 30 to 50 words.
v. Section C consists of 7 Short Answer type questions carrying 03 marks each.
Answers to these questions should be in the range of 50 to 80 words.
vi. Section D consists of 3 Long Answer type questions carrying 05 marks each.
Answers should be in the range of 80 to 120 words.
vii. Section E consists of 3 source-based / case-based units of assessment carrying 04
marks each with subparts.
viii. There is no overall choice. However, an internal choice has been provided in some
sections. Only one of the alternatives has to be attempted in such questions.

29. An electron and a proton, using parallel to each other, enter a uniform magnetic field

34. Draw the diagram of the flower and label the four whorls. Write the names of the
gamete producing organs in the flower.

35. (a) Write a balanced chemical equation for each following reaction and classify
them.
(i) Lead acetate solution is treated with dilute hydrochloric acid to form lead chloride and
acetic acid solution.
(ii) A piece of sodium metal is added to absolute ethanol to form sodium ethoxide and
hydrogen gas.
(iii) Iron (III) oxide on heating with carbon monoxide gas reacts to form solid iron and
liberates carbon dioxide gas.
(iv ) Hydrogen sulphide gas reacts with oxygen gas to form solid sulphur and liquid water
(v) Zinc metal is added to copper sulphate solution? 5

(b) (i)A magnesium ribbon is burnt in oxygen to give a white compound X accompanied by
light emission. If the burning ribbon is now placed in an atmosphere of nitrogen, it
continues to burn and forms a compound Y.
(a) Write the chemical formulae of X and Y.
(b) Write a balanced chemical equation when X is dissolved in water

(ii) A substance X, an oxide of a group 2 element, is used intensively in the cement industry.

(b) (i) Suppose you want to observe an erect image of a candle flame using a concave mirror
of focal length 20cm. State the range of distance of the candle flame from the mirror. List
two other characteristics of the observed image.
Draw a ray diagram to show the formation of image in this case.
(ii) The image of a candle flame placed at a distance of 30cm from a mirror is formed on a
screen placed in front of the mirror at a distance of 60cm from its pole.
What is the nature of the mirror? Find its focal length. 5
SECTION E
Question No. 37 to 39 are case-based/data -based questions with 2 to 3 short sub-parts.
Internal choice is provided in one of these sub-parts.
37. If two or more resistances are connected in such a way that the same potential
difference gets applied to each of them, then they are said to be connected in parallel. The.
current flowing through the two resistances in parallel is, however, not the same. When we
have two or more resistances joined in parallel to one another, then the same current gets
additional paths to flow and the overall resistance decreases. The equivalent resistance is
