Syllabus for Children Ministry (CM606)
Course Instructor: S. Daniel Abdiel Credit Hour: 3
Second Semester, 2018 Class: D.Th.

Course Description
Children’s Ministry in Theory and Practice is designed to familiarize students with issues
and practices which are fundamental to ministering to and with children and families through
local church.
Course Objectives
The overall objective of the course is to make the students to get some awareness Children’s and
understand the value of children, need of children ministry and how perform in that ministry. At
the end of the course, the students will be able to achieve the following objectives:
A. Knowledge

The Course intends:

 To teach the background of Christian Education, Biblical background and historical


background of Children’s Ministry.
 To make the students to understand the Physical and Psychological growth of different
stages of Human Development.
 To promote the students to understand the different Teachings Aids for children.
 To inculcate the complete knowledge about Sunday School and VBS to the students.
 To educate the students to practice different practical methods of Children Ministry.

B. Skill (What skill the students will develop after studying the subject)

The students will:

 Be able to describe the Christian Education, Biblical Background and historical


background of Children’s Ministry.
 Be able to understand the Physical and Psychological growth of Human Development.
 Be able to develop the skills to implement the different teaching Aids for the Children.
 Be able to have complete understanding about Sunday School and VBS.
 Be able to enhance them by enlightening the life of Children.

C. Attitude (What transformation/s will take place after completing the course)
 The course will help students to understand about Children Ministry
 Explore how the church can meet the developmental and learning needs of children and
their families.

Course Requirements
- A separate note/file should be maintained & brought to the class for taking notes.
- Reading reports should be submitted periodically on the assigned topic during the
submission date. Late submission will result in reducing the grade.
- The Interview Paper should submit on the time with complete requirements of the given
template.
- Assignments should be submitted on or before the assigned date. Late submission will
result in reducing the grade.
- Regular attendance, Class Tests & Final Examination is warranted.
- Students are expected to take 40% of marks to pass in their requirements. Those who fail
are eligible to seat in Re-Exam / Redo-Assignments.

Course Grading

Reading Report - 5%
Attendance & Class Participation - 5%
Practical Ministry in Field - 10%
Interview Report - 10%
Class Test - 10%
Final Examination - 60%

Interviews: The Students must visit two Preschool and/or Children’s Ministers in the local
churches and should interview them as per template given. The students should get feedback
from any two parents who belongs to the same churches to know and asses the effectiveness of
Children‘s Ministry. The visit and final submission of Report should be within 15 days.

Practical Ministry in Field: The student must implement the theory and practical methods
which they learned in the class room. The performance of the students should be evaluated by
the local Church Pastors or the Children Ministers. The Final Submission of Report consists of
evaluation sheet and valid proof.
