Control Chart Implementation in SAP QM:

This document explains how to generate the control charts in QM with required settings and process
flow with step by step

What Is Control Chart: Control chart is a graphical tool that tracks one or more control variables of the
characteristic.

Why is the control Chart important in a quality Control: The Control Chart is used to study how a
process changes over time. Comparing current data to historical control limits leads to conclusions about
whether the process variation is consistent (in control) or unpredictable (out of control, affected by
special causes of variation).

I have Explained 6 Steps to implement Control Chart functionality in SAP QM.

STEP 1: CREATE/CHANGE MIC WITH INDICATORS SPC AND SAMPLING

PROCEDURE
T-CODE - QS21/QS22
Create MIC with indicator SPC characteristic and sampling procedure activated in the control indicators

Then Save the MIC
STEP 2: CREATE/CHANGE SAMPLING PROCEDURE
T-CODE: QDV1/QDV2
Create sampling procedure with valuation mode as SPC inspection and select the required control chart
type. Here we can choose from the following control chart types.

I. Shewhart Chart X-bar/s/USA (for Quantitative MIC)

II. Shewhart Chart for P/USA (for Qualitative MIC)

Or, we can use any type of control chart based on the specific needs of the business
Then Save the sampling procedure

STEP 3: ASSIGN SAMPLING PROCEDURE IN THE INSPECTION PLAN

T-CODE: QP01/QP02
Create inspection Plan and assign the MIC and sampling procedure
Then save inspection plan

STEP 4: ACTIVATE REQUIRED INSPECTION TYPE

T-CODE: MM02
Activate the required inspection type in the material master QM view as shown below. Here, inspection
type 89 is activated for testing purposes.
STEP 5: CREATE INSPECTION LOTS FOR MATERIALS AND DO THE RESULT RECORDING
AND UD

T-CODE: QA01, QE11, QA32

Create inspection lots for the material, perform the results recording, and complete UD. Here,
six inspection lots are created manually, and results recording is done with different values.
Finally, complete the usage decision.

Inspection Lot no: 890000000755 .Result Value 4800 PSI

As like same I have recorded the following Inspection Lot and those Value -

Inspection Lot no: 890000000756 Result Value 4940 PSI

Inspection Lot no: 890000000757 Result Value 4670 PSI

Inspection Lot no: 890000000758 Result Value 4790 PSI

Inspection Lot no: 890000000759 Result Value 4020 PSI

Inspection Lot no: 890000000760 Result Value 4490 PSI

STEP 4: GENERATE CONTROL CHART FOR MIC AND MATERIAL COMBINATION

T-CODE: QGC3
Generate the control chart for the MIC with entering following selection criteria on the screen.
Use SPC Criterion as 070

Hit the control chart icon, wait a few seconds, and the control chart will be displayed
below.
Now hit-on the mark icon

And getting mean value, Deviation etc.

Then save the control chart

If you want to create a control chart for qualitative data, just use the control chart type

Shewhart chart for p/USA or Shewhart chart for np/USA in the sampling procedure and getting
the required type of graphical control chart.
If you want to set upper specification and lower specification limit marks in a line chart, the
below-mentioned configuration needs to be updated.

Configuration Path: Quality Management> Quality Planning> Basic Data> Sampling, SPC>
Statistical Process Control> Define Control Chart Type
