Passage

Every language or dialect has its own intonation. We cannot apply the intonation of one dialect on another.
There is no such thing as using Visayan or Ilocano English.
Intonation is the rise and fall of the voice when talking. The voice is raised on the stressed syllable. Stress and
intonation are closely related to each other. A stressed syllable is normally said louder, longer and with higher
pitch.
Intonation is very important instrument to express one’s feelings and convey meaning. We can easily project
happiness, excitement, anger, frustration, dismay and fear not only from the words we use but also from the way
we say these words. It is also through intonation that we can determine the kind of sequences we speak; whether
they are statements, commands, request or question.
