B

Function
Standard crosslinking agent for the production of polyurethane
elastomers (hot- and cold-curing cast systems) and of integral
skin foams.

Product description
Chemical composition: 1,4-butane diol

Physical form: clear, colourless liquid

Density (20 °C): approx. 1.02 g/cm³

Viscosity (25 °C): approx. 72 mPa.s

Hydroxyl value (theoretical): 1245 mg KOH/g

Freezing point: approx. 19.5 °C

Flash point: 135 °C

Miscibility with water: miscible, hygroscopic

Water content: max. 0.1 %

Substance content: min. 99.0 %

Product informations
Addolink B is used as a chain extender or crosslinking component for
polyester and polyether casting elastomers (hot and cold) and for inte-
gral skin foam. The reaction between Addolink B and isocyanates leads
to the formation of the hard polyurethane segments. The rapidity with
which these hard segments are formed in the reaction mixture reduces
the demoulding time.

The use of Addolink B also affects the physical properties of the finished
product. It increases the material's hardness and improves the resistance
to abrasion and heat.The addition of Addolink B depends on the demands
to be made on the finished product and can be varied between 2 and 10
parts by weight, calculated on 100 parts by weight polyol. As the freezing
point of Addolink B is relatively high, temperatures above 22 °C are needed
for satisfactory processing.

Storage stability
Addolink B is hygroscopic. It should therefore be kept in tightly closed
containers only. The container must always be closed firmly after use.
If the contents of a container have completely or partly solidified, also
temporary, the entire contents should be melted at a moderate temperature
(not above 50 °C) and homogenized by stirring or shaking before any of
the contents are removed. Otherwise the extremely small water content of
the product becomes locally concentrated. It is also advisable to follow
this procedure whenever a new container is about to be used.
Under suitable conditions Addolink B can be stored for 24 months.
