Plot.
A group of lawmakers in the House of Representatives has taken steps to remove Speaker J. Fonati Koffa
from his position, accusing him of engaging in conflicts of interest by representing major concessionaires
in Liberia. The move has sparked tensions within the political landscape, with Deputy Speaker Thomas
Fallah reportedly leading the charge.
The lawmakers involved in the petition represent various political parties, including the ruling Unity
Party and the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC). The resolution was read by Representative Nyan
Flomo (District #2, Nimba County) outside the Capitol Building, after the chamber was closed by pro-
Koffa lawmakers.
The push to oust Speaker Koffa is allegedly tied to his efforts to audit the House of Representatives, with
reports suggesting that each representative that signed the resolution allegedly received an amount of
US$ 25,000. Deputy Speaker Fallah, however, denies involvement in any plot against Speaker Koffa and
insists on his amicable relationship with the Speaker.
Meanwhile, Speaker Koffa, who is currently on an official trip to Italy as part of President Joseph Boakai's
delegation, is expected to return today and address the nation via a live radio broadcast from Italy.
At the same time, Former President George Weah has condemned the attempt to remove Speaker
Koffa, accusing the Unity Party-led government of using government funds to influence the Speaker's
removal. Weah emphasized the importance of upholding democracy, warning lawmakers against
participating in what he calls an insidious plot. He has called for a special meeting with CDC lawmakers
to discuss the situation and reaffirm the party's stance.
Government Denies Involvement in Plot to Remove House Speaker, Accuses Former President Weah
of Orchestrating Internal Power Struggle in CDC
The Unity Party-led Government, under President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr, categorically denies any
involvement in a purported plot to remove House Speaker, Honorable J. Fonati Koffa, from office.
In response to claims made by Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) leader, Mr. George Weah, alleging
government funding of the alleged scheme, the Government has deemed these accusations as
preposterous, disgraceful, and lacking in merit.
The Government posits that the supposed plot to oust Speaker Koffa appears to be a manifestation of
an internal power struggle within the CDC orchestrated by Mr. Weah. This is evident in Mr. Weah's
attempts to shift blame onto the Boakai-led Government.
Minister Sando, acting information Minister denounced insinuations by Mr. Weah that public funds
were being used to interfere with Capitol Hill affairs, labeling such claims as reflective of the former
President's questionable mindset.
The Government reaffirms its commitment to serving the Liberian people and pursuing the ARREST
Agenda. It remains undeterred by the distractions caused by Mr. Weah's continuous negative remarks
and divisive tactics.
Representative Goshua Withdraws Support for Petition Against Speaker Koffa, Hails Push for House
Audit
Grand Bassa County Representative Thomas A. Goshua has retracted his support for the petition seeking
to remove Speaker Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, deeming it an assault on Koffa's proactive advocacy for a House
of Representatives audit.
Initially a signatory of the resolution, Rep. Goshua disclosed that his participation was purely
investigative, with the intent of uncovering the instigators behind the campaign to impeach the Speaker.

Kenyan senators have voted to remove Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from office despite his
failure to testify at his impeachment trial after his lawyer said he had been taken to hospital.
In one of the most dramatic days in Kenya's recent political history, Gachagua had been due to appear in
the Senate after lunch to defend himself, a day after he had pleaded not guilty to 11 charges.
However, Gachagua, popularly known as Riggy G, did not show up and his lawyer requested a
postponement saying his client was suffering from chest pains and was being treated by doctors at The
Karen Hospital.
Senators chose to continue the trial without him, prompting the defence team to leave the chamber.
