INTRODUCTION:
The Youth Week Program was organized by the Youth Organization took
place from 26th August 2024 to 1st September 2024 in Tynhiang. The
program aimed at promoting youth engagement skill development,
fostering community involvement and cultural appreciation.
The event was well-received, with active participation from both youths
and community at large and it is successfully met its objectives. The
theme for this year’s Youth Week was “Empowering Youth for Community
Development.”

PROGRAM OVERVIEWED:
The Youth Week Program consisted of a series of activities and events
designed to engage and empower youth in various capacities. The
program was attended with over 70+ youth from different parts of the
locality actively participating. Below is a summary of each day’s
activities:

Day 1 (26th August 2024): Opening


Ceremony
Location: Dorbar Hall
Highlights: The program started off with an inaugural speech by
the local leaders and a performance by the youth choir. Attendance was
approximately 125 participants.

Day 2 (27th August 2024): Leadership &


Skill Development Workshops
Workshops were held on leadership, career planning, entrepreneurship
and skill development. These sessions were facilitated by local
professionals and over 40 youth members participated.

Day 3(28th August 2024): Health & Well-


being
A health awareness session was conducted with a focus on mental
health, physical well-being and the dangers of substance abuse. This was
followed by a free health check up camp in collaboration with local
healthcare providers.

Day 4(29th August 2024): Sports and


fitness
Various sports were organized, including football, marathon, seven
stones, cricket and other games. The goal was to promote physical
fitness and encourage teamwork among the youth.

Day 5(30th August 2024): Environmental


Day
Youth volunteers participated in a community- wide cleanup drive,
tree planting activities, and a workshop on sustainable living and
environmental conversation. The event saw the planting of 100 trees and
the collection of over 30 bags of waste from different areas of the
community.

Day 6 (31st August 2024): Talent and


Cultural Show
A talent show and cultural evening was organized to showcase the
creative abilities of our youth, including music, dance and drama. This
provided a platform for young people to express themselves artistically
and culturally.

Day 7(1st August 2024): Closing Ceremony


& Award Presentation
The program culminated with a closing ceremony where
outstanding participants were awarded for their contributions throughout
the week. Special recognitions were given to volunteers, sports winners,
and participants in the talent show.

ACHIVEMENTS:
 The program engaged over 70+ youth participants from the
community, surpassing our initial target.
 Leadership and career development workshops received positive
feedback, with many youth expressing interest in future training.
 The environmental initiative led to a cleaner and greener
community.
 Enhanced community spirit and collaboration between the youth
and local authorities.

CHALLENGES:
 Limited sources and funds to accommodate a large number of
participants.
 Inclement weather on Day 4 impacted some outdoor activities,
requiring schedule adjustments.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
 Increase funding for future programs to expand the scope and
number of participants.
 Early preparation to account for unexpected challenges, such as
weather disruptions.

OVERALL ASSESMENTS:
The Youth Week program successfully met its objectives of engaging the youth and fostering
a sense of community. The enthusiastic participation of the youth, along with the support
from local authorities and sponsors, contributed to the overall impact of the program. We look
forward to building on this success for future initiatives.
