Vacancy number 12.001 Position In the position of bioinformatician you will contribute to the analysis and method development of NGS applications in the field of plant biotech and breeding. This includes de novo assembly, reference mapping, variation detection and sequence-based genotyping with data from state-of-the-art machines like the HiSeq2000 and PacBio sequencers; work in a team of five bioinformatics professionals under the supervision of a team leader; work in close collaboration with researchers and scientists from other research groups. Your profile A bachelor degree in bioinformatics or comparable level through experience; Knowledge of and demonstrable experience in a LINUX environment; Advanced programming skills (fluent in at least Perl); Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience with common bioinformatics methods and tools; Ambition to work in a pioneering research field; Experience with analyses of NGS data (de novo sequence assembly, reference mapping, marker discovery and genotyping) would be a pre; Experience with the use of parallel computing on clusters, grid or cloud infrastructure would be an asset; Enthusiastic team-player with good communication skills and a project-oriented attitude.
