Employment status locally, nationally,

globally
Local:
Employment Status in Jammu and Kashmir
1. Current Employment Rate:
Approximately 23%, significantly lower than the national
average of 40-45%.

Increment and Decrement in Employment

1. Increment:

Government initiatives have led to a modest increase in

employment opportunities, particularly in tourism,
handicrafts, and agriculture.
Vocational training programs have helped some segments of
the population find jobs.

2. Decrement:
Percentage Decrease: Unemployment has risen from around
6% a few years ago to about 23% currently.
Reasons for Decrease:

1. Political Instability: Ongoing conflict and unrest deter

investment and economic development.
2. Limited Industrial Base: A lack of robust industries results
in fewer job opportunities.
3. Youth Migration: Many skilled youths leave for better
opportunities in other states or countries.
4. Impact of COVID-19: The pandemic severely affected
tourism and other sectors, leading to job losses.

National:
Employment Status in India

Unemployment Rate: Fluctuates around 6-8%, impacted by

economic recovery post-COVID-19.
Youth Unemployment: High levels among graduates, often due to
a mismatch between skills and market demands.

Informal Sector: A large portion of the workforce operates

informally, facing job insecurity and lack of benefits.

Reasons for Employment Status

Economic Factors: Growth rates and industrial output directly
influence job creation.

Skill Mismatch: Graduates often lack skills that align with

available jobs.

Population Growth: Rapid growth increases the workforce,

complicating job creation.

Government Policies: Various initiatives exist to boost

employment, but their effectiveness varies.

Technological Change: Automation and tech advancements can

displace workers without adequate retraining.
Regional Disparities: Employment opportunities are uneven, with
urban areas generally having more options than rural regions.

Gobal:
Employment status globally varies significantly due to factors
like economic conditions, technological advancements, and
demographic changes.

Economic Conditions: Countries with strong economies typically

experience lower unemployment rates. In contrast, regions
facing economic downturns or crises often see higher
unemployment due to reduced business activity and investment.

Technological Advancements: Automation and artificial

intelligence are reshaping job markets. While they create new
opportunities, they also displace workers in traditional
industries, leading to skill mismatches and increased
unemployment in certain sectors.

Globalization: Increased trade and investment have led to job

creation in developing countries but can also result in job losses
in developed nations as companies relocate to lower-cost
regions.

Demographic Changes: Aging populations in developed countries

can lead to labor shortages, while younger populations in
developing countries may struggle with high unemployment rates
due to insufficient job creation.

Education and Skill Levels: Access to education and training

directly impacts employment. Regions with higher educational
attainment tend to have lower unemployment, as workers
possess skills that meet market demands.

Government Policies: Labor laws, tax incentives, and social

safety nets influence employment rates. Effective policies can
stimulate job creation, while restrictive regulations may hinder
hiring.

Cultural Factors: Attitudes toward work and gender roles can

affect participation rates. In some cultures, traditional views
may limit job opportunities for certain groups, impacting
overall employment levels.
Health Crises: Events like the COVID-19 pandemic drastically
altered employment landscapes, leading to widespread job
losses, remote work trends, and a reevaluation of work-life
balance.

Sector-Specific Trends: Industries like technology, healthcare,

and renewable energy are growing, creating jobs, while sectors
such as retail and hospitality face challenges, influencing overall
employment dynamics.

Geopolitical Issues: Conflicts, political instability, and migration

patterns can disrupt labor markets, leading to displacement and
changes in employment availability.

Understanding these factors is crucial for addressing global

employment challenges and fostering economic growth.

My opinion
In my opinion, I think the employment rate is quite less as there
are màny people who are not employed ànd there are many
people who deserve to be employed but are not employed.
