3.2 Introduction
Word processing involves the entering, editing and formatting of text. In recent times, word
processors have become so powerful that the line between them and desk top publishing software
has become blurred. Microsoft Office Word is the most commonly used word processor, although
there are many others.
3.3 Defination
Word processors are programs that enable:

print documents
iii) Cut and Paste: Allows to remove (cut) a section of text from one place in a
document and insert (paste) it somewhere else.
vi) Search and replace: Allows to search for words or phrases then replace.
vii) Wordwrap: Cursor will move to next line automatically once the current line
get filled.
ix) Grammar and Spell checker: A utility that allows to check the the spelling of
words. They are tools for proofreading a document.
xi) Windows: Allows to edit two or more documents at the same time.
xii) WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get): A document appears on the
screen exactly as it will look when printed.

Standard Toolbar : Contains tools for standard tasks, like saving, printing, cutting, copying,
pasting, etc.
Formatting Toolbar : Provides tools for formatting like bold, italic, underline, etc.
3.5 MS-WORD
Loading Ms-Word
• Click start button.
• Click at Microsoft office
• Click Word 2013/16/19
You can cut and copy content to the Clipboard and paste from the Clipboard.
The Clipboard is a temporary storage area that is shared by the Office apps.
To find text
• On the home tab, click on Find.
• In the find what box, type the text being sought
• Click find next button
• To close the dialogue box, click cancel button
To Replace Text
On the home tab, click on replace
In the find what box type word / text as above
In replace with box type the word/ text to replace the sought word / text
Click replace all button
To close the dialogue box click cancel button
4.1.1 Proofreading means carefully checking for errors in a text before it is published
or shared. It is the very last stage of the writing process, when you fix minor spelling
and punctuation mistakes, formatting issues and inconsistencies.
