Narrative Poem Assignment

About the Poem:This poem is about making up with someone you care about after a disagreement. It tells
the story of a tense moment between a parent and child and gives us a picture of the family’s emotions
and relationships. The poem describes specific actions and feelings, helping readers imagine the scene
and understand the speaker’s thoughts about what happened. Like a story, it takes us through a small
journey, but it also uses poetic tools, like imagery (descriptions that appeal to the senses) and rhythm, to
show the mood and feelings of the moment.

Prompt:Write about a time when you made up with a family member or friend after a disagreement or
fight. Use this poem as an example to guide you as you write. Follow the structure of the poem to create
your own.

Your poem should:

Have a meaningful title

Be at least 16 lines long

Use imagery and rhythm to bring out the emotions and tone

Blend storytelling with poetic elements (like imagery, rhythm, and descriptive language)

Have fun expressing yourself through this story-like poem!
