I.Introduction
Planning is an indispensable tool to achieve the organization’s goals
and objectives. It allows the organization to know where to go and how to
get there. It is a road map to keep you on course and gives you direction.
Without it, a school for that matter will lack direction and focus and run
the risk of spending tome doing things that fail to benefit the future.
Planning not only prevents unnecessary detouring and helps in accounting
responsibilities but also prevents wasteful spending of resources. The
School Improvement Plan is the mother of all plans in a particular school.
It is comprehensive, provides direction and touches all aspects of school
development.
SIP is a guide that lays down the solutions to corresponding
identified Priority Improvement Areas (PIAs). A guide that gives sharp
direction to activities. It also gives a clear view of goals and specific
means to achieve the goals specifically those that concern the Five Key
Results: Access, Equity, Quality, and Governance. Guided by the programs
and projects designed in the SIP, the chance of producing children with
well-developed personalities and ideals is very big. No wonder when one
of these days, quality graduates from this promising school will shine as
productive citizens in our locality in particular and in our country in
general. This could be made possible with the strong support from both
internal and external school planning teams as an appropriate body
through which the members of the school personnel and educational
community may discuss relevant issues, communicate information and
provide suggestions for assistance and support of the school for its
development. SPT (School Planning Team) was created to conduct vision
sharing. Likewise, to share ideas, plan, developed, and formulate general
and specific directions envisioned to help the school in promoting quality
education among learners. Since school improvement planning is a
participatory process, the school head involved everybody who has a
stake in the school system. The SIP was crafted based on felt needs of the
school as gleaned from the following concern: curriculum,
learners,stakeholders, enrolment, personnel, and physical facilities.
Guided by the principle that quality education can be best achieved if
there is clear-cut and well-defined road map that establishes the
necessary changes that the school want to undergo and how and when
these changes will be made, school stakeholders of Caggao Elementary
School joined forces to lay down the blue print of action . This effort is in
line with the concept and principles of shared governance as mandated by
R.A. 9155, otherwise known as the Governance of Basic Education Act of
2001. The SIP also serves as a vital mechanism to complement School-
Based Management (SBM). Like SBM, the SIP is geared towards the
realization of the goals of improving student achievement, school
performance and learning outcomes by enhancing the way curriculum is
delivered, creating a conducive learning environment, and intensifying
stakeholders’ participation by involving them in a decision-making process
where authority is shared, thus inculcating the tenets of shared
accountability and responsibility among key stakeholders of the school.
