INTRODUCTION
The main issue that educators are worried about in the classroom is the academic
performance of the students. Assessing students' intellectual progress is hard since socioeconomic
factors influence students' performance, environmental and psychological aspects. Students'
several elements, including learning capacities, have an impact on performance because the
premise of the new learning paradigm is that all pupils can and ought to learn at higher levels, yet
it shouldn't be viewed as a limitation because their additional elements that may influence pupils'
performance, such as ethnicity, gender, and sex. They'd found that the following important factors
influence students' outcomes: student ability/prior accomplishment, drive, age, stage of
development, and amount of instruction the standard of instruction, the atmosphere in the
classroom, the home, the peer group, and media exposure outside of the classroom.
Taking all of the above-mentioned humble understanding into consideration, the researcher
decided to explore the factors affecting the academic performance of the Grade 12 students of San
Simon High School and proposed an intervention program to improve their academic
performances.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
This study aims to determine the factors affecting Academic Performance of Grade 12
students during the School Year 2024-2025 at San Simon High School, San Simon, Pampanga.

This research aims to deeper understand the different factors affecting the Academic
Performance of the Grade 12 students. The researcher chose to conduct this study to have a better
understanding about these factors. The following will benefit from the study;
Students- This research will assist students in the following ways: it will provide them with
insights about the factors that affects their academic performances.
Teachers- This research will benefit them in the sense that it will provide them with ideas and
awareness about their impact to the academic performance of the students.
Parents- This research will aid them in a way that they could make their children's learning
comfortable and may allow them to have insights to support their children anytime they are having
a difficult time.
Administrators- This research will benefit them in the belief that they will be more aware of their
students' learning practices and have the opportunity to reach out and assist teachers in ensuring
that their students are comfortable when learning.
Future Researchers- This will benefit future researchers in the sense that if they write another
study related to this one, they will not have a difficult time discovering the same topic as them,
and it will also provide future researchers with ideas and expertise in determining the factors that
affects the academic performance of the students.
The researcher will conduct this study entitled "Factors Affecting the Academic
Performance of the Grade 12 Students in San Simon High School" This study will focus on the
preferred learning styles of the grade twelve (12) students in San Simon High School at San Jose,
San Simon, Pampanga. This study aims to understand the different learning strategies. One
hundred seventy-five (100) grade twelve (12) students of San Simon High School will be part of
this study.
The study will be conducted within the specific time frame given to the researchers. The
researchers chose the grade twelve (12) students to identify the different factors affecting the
academic performance of the students.
The respondents of this study will be Senior High School Grade 12 students because it will
benefit them in a way that the result of the research will be helpful and essential not only for the
students but also for the Senior High School Teachers. After all, the goal of the study is to guide
the SSHS Teachers, more specifically the Senior High Teachers, in finding the factors affecting the
academic performance of the Grade 12 students land to focus more on their studies so that they
can passed on their Senior high School and continue their college. If others wonder why not Grade
11 students, the reason is because they may be undecided whether they will continue their Senior
High school journey. This study is only in San Simon High School and students from other school
are not included because students from other school might have different perception about factors
affecting academic performance.
