evolved from last 200 years.
• For every product evolution, there need to be a new design, new material
and the new way of manufacturing them.
• Products are getting more sophisticated, miniature, multifunctional and
intelligent day-by-day.
• Mechanical engineers role is to design, develop, manufacture and test
before all these products could reach the consumer.
• While the products are in use, their role is to maintain, service and
dispose after retire (recycle) of the same product.

• In all the stages of evolution, the mechanical and manufacturing sectors have
been providing exciting products and services that have made human life much
more reachable, adaptable, comfortable, safer and enjoyable.

 Automotive Sector
• The automotive sector is one of the major shareholders of Mechanical
Engineering.
• In those days, any nation with rich in transport facilities had the chance to
conquer the economy.
• Thus, the automotive sector (other than textile and meat industries) was at
pinnacle of the 2nd Industrial Revolution.
• Automotive is one of the major industrial sectors with 18.33% growth in
2021 and is expected to be 26% by 2025 (by Technavia).
• The growth rate of passenger vehicles have shown a constant increment in
the growth, except in 2020 and 2021 due to Covid-19 pandemic.
• Huge market share is expected in the upcoming years in terms of vehicle
systems and components production.

• In recent years, the electrification of the automotive sector (Electric Vehicles) has created an avenue for
innovations and entrepreneur opportunities for young minds
• It has been providing job opportunities for various other streams of engineering like electrical, electronics
and computer engineering including data science.

 Aviation Sector
• Aviation is another major industrial sector under Mechanical Engineering with
constant growth in both fleet and MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Operations).
• According to sources, an overall Cumulative Annual Growth Rate (CARG) of 6%
is expected by 2029.

 Aviation Sector
• In the Indian context, under UDAN Phase 1 and Phase 2, 56
unserved airports are to be operationalized (23 already operating
now).
• Under UDAN 3, routes connecting 13 unique unserved airports have
been awarded, which has shown substantial growth in the Indian
Aviation industry.
• The total aviation passengers is expected to reach 1124 million by
2040, of which 73% will be domestic passengers (812 million).
• In addition to this, revenue from MRO is expected to increase from 50
million USD (2018) to 540 million USD with a CAGR of 11% by
2040.
• This will add huge employment and economic growth to the nation.

 Marine and Merchant Navy
• Marine engineering deals with matters related to the design,
innovation, construction and maintenance of seagoing vessels
and navigation equipment.
• Marine engineers focus primarily on developing and producing
internal systems of boats, ships, or submarines.
• In addition, they are also responsible for the operation, maintenance
and repair of all major mechanical and engineered equipment on-
board a ship.
• Mechanical systems of sea vessels are propulsion mechanics,
electricity and power generation system, lubrication, fuel
systems, water distillation, lighting and air conditioning system,
etc.

• There is a growing interest inside the engineering world in analysing
and studying the human body from an engineer's perspective.
• to understand the human body in their own perspective, improve
quality of life, and address any health problem related to the
individuals.
• In this field, the human body's musculoskeletal system is viewed as a
mechanical structure that can undergo certain motions and stresses.
• Biomechanical engineering is also concerned with the flow of blood,
the mechanics of respiration, and energy exchange in the living
human body.
