COMPANY/INSTITUTION/ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY
On January 2, 1978 Aljeann Auto Supply Motor & Works was founded by
Roosevelt M. Segundo as a retailer of auto parts. Now, it has become one of the
largest auto supplies in Region 1 which no one ever imagined making this far. In
2006, Alvin C. Segundo took over the reins of Aljeann Auto Supply & Motor
Works. After more than 30 years of genuine service in auto supply, the company
is poised to expand the business through the founding and launching of Auto Lab
Car Care Center on May 26, 2010. Through this expansion, they have continued
to deliver their best services in the automobile industry.
C. CLASSROOM LEARNINGS/ THEORIES USED DURING OJT
23
nuts and bolts to understanding the different tool sizes needed for tasks like using
sockets and combination tools, each day brought new challenges and learning
opportunities.
My practical tasks varied from basic maintenance like cleaning brake pads
and changing engine oil, which were foundational practices, to more complex
projects such as transmission removal. The latter required a team effort due to the
weight and complexity of the transmission systems involved. I also developed
skill in wheel bearing repacking, a vital lubrication procedure that ensures optimal
performance of vehicle axles and wheels. Understanding the role of shock
absorbers in providing a smooth ride showed the importance of their regular
inspection and replacement. Additionally, I improved my skills in wheel
balancing and alignment using advanced tools like the Hunter Hawkeye Wheel
Aligner, essential for improving vehicle safety and efficiency. Beyond technical
skills, I delved into the differences between types of engine oil and their
specifications, crucial for enhancing engine performance and longevity. This
knowledge helped me to make decisions when selecting oil based on factors such
as engine type, climate conditions, and operational requirements, thus
contributing to overall vehicle reliability and efficiency.
As the first woman to intern at Auto Lab Car Care Center, I deeply
appreciated the inclusive and supportive environment that shattered gender
stereotypes in the mechanical engineering field. This experience not only
strengthened my passion for automotive mechanics but also underscored the
importance of diversity and inclusion in every aspect of industry.
Improve training and awareness. This means creating clear and engaging
training sessions that explain why wearing protective gear and following safety
rules are so important. Hands-on demonstrations and regular refreshers can make
sure everyone knows how to use equipment correctly and keeps safety in mind.
Also, enforce safety rules consistently. This includes clearly stating the
consequences for not following safety procedures and keeping an eye on high-risk
areas to correct any unsafe behaviors right away. By focusing on these
areas—training, availability of equipment, and strict enforcement of safety
24
rules—they can create a safer workplace where everyone feels protected and
knows how to stay safe on the job.
