Mod Squad Free

Dear Customer:

Thank you for downloading our free Mod Squad bundle of 15 Max for Live modulation ef-
fects. Designed by Ableton Certified Trainer Noah Pred, Mod Squad Free is optimized for
Push with full Info View annotations. Each modulator comes in two versions: one taking ad-
vantage of Live 12’s new modulation features, and another version compatible with Live 10
and 11. Map up to eight target parameters per modulator and let the magic unfold...

Included Max MIDI effects:


• MIDI ADSRx – probabilistically trigger optionally BPM-synchronized ADSR envelopes
with numerous advanced modes.
• MIDI Autodubber – probabilistically generate maximum value spikes with each note
on within specified ranges for designated periods while otherwise residing at a mini-
mum value.
• MIDI Key Tracker – probabilistically generate modulation values from incoming MIDI
note pitch, velocity, velocity with gate returning to minimum, or gate only, with op-
tional delay.
• MIDI LFOx – probabilistically generate advanced, flexible synchronized LFO curves
with optional cycle reset in bars or triggered via incoming MIDI and audio-rate MIDI
pitch LFO rate mode constrainable to Global Hub key and scale, with depth optionally
controlled by pitch or velocity.
• MIDI S&H – probabilistically generate random values with each note on within speci-
fied ranges.
• MIDI X-Control – a macro knob optionally quantized to incoming MIDI note on or
note off messages within constrainable ranges.

Included Max Audio effects:


• Audio S&H – probabilistically generate random values when incoming signal exceeds
a specified threshold.
• Audiodubber – probabilistically generate maximum value bins when incoming signal
exceeds a specified threshold for designated periods while otherwise residing at a
minimum value.
• Autodubber – probabilistically generate maximum value spikes for designated peri-
ods while otherwise residing at a minimum value.

• Follower – envelope follower with tempo-synchronized base rate and multiplier delay
time.

• Gain Tracker – amplitude-based audio-rate modulation.

• LFOx – probabilistically generate advanced, flexible base rate multiplied, BPM-syn-


chronized LFO curves with optional cycle reset in bars, and audio-rate pitch-based
LFO rate controlled via dial, constrainable to Global Hub key and scale, with depth
optionally controlled by pitch or velocity.
• Manual S&H – probabilistically generate random values when a MIDI-mappable, auto-
mateable button is clicked.

• Pitch Tracker – generate modulation values from the detected frequency of incoming
signal, with optional delay.

• X-Control – a macro knob optionally quantized to a variety of synchronized rates for


ladder-style parameter changes.

Included Audio Effect Racks:


• X-Control 8 – control up to 64 parameters anywhere in your set, including on the
Master track, via eight rack macros, each mapped to eight corresponding unmapped
X-Control instances.

• X-Control 4 – control up to 32 parameters anywhere in your set, including on the


Master track, via four rack macros, each mapped to four corresponding unmapped X-
Control instances, with the other four rack macros assigned to Rate, Multiplier, Jitter,
and Smoothing for all four X-Controls contained within.

Installation
Drag the MFA Mod Squad folder containing all .amxd files to your User Library presets or an-
other secure folder within Live’s User Library, accessible from Live’s browser. Once there,
simply drag and drop any .amxd file to appropriate tracks in Ableton Live.

Requirements Live 10.1.35 Suite or higher, running Max 8.1.11 or higher.

FAQ & Troubleshooting


The effects don’t make any notes or sound – why?
All Mod Squad devices only produce a control modulation signal, reacting to either MIDI, au-
dio, or purely random generation. To deploy this modulation signal, the devices must be
mapped to active parameters in other devices in your Live set.

There’s no manual but I need more help – where can I find it?
Manifest Audio LLC does not offer support on free devices, but every control in Mod Squad
is fully annotated for Live’s Info View, so just open the Info View area and hover over any pa-
rameter in Cheat Code for an explanation of its behavior and functionality.
