Remembering my cell phone as I walk out the door should be as automatic for me as
grabbing my backpack, tying my shoes, or brushing my teeth in the mornings as I prepare for my
school day. Unfortunately, it has not become a consistent habit for me and in fact remains a
problem as I tend to leave it behind either in the car or at the house. When leaving my phone
behind, I not only lose my ability to communicate with my parents about whether I should be on
the bus, but I also lose the one thing I hold responsible for maintaining my sanity throughout the
day; my ability to listen to music. Music frees my mind from the day’s problems and stresses,
transporting me to a place where mundane duties and chores are cascaded behind the soulful
beats and soothing rhythms that allow responsibilities to completed with ease and joy. Music is
my lungs’ air, my hearts’ joy, and my souls’ peace. My entire mood for the day depends solely on
my ability to remember this one device and yet I still remain forgetful when it comes time to
