passed an Ordinance entitled “The Fisheries Research Institute Ordinance, 1984” on the 11 July 1984. The Institute was established in July 1984. BFRI has so far innovated 57 improved aquaculture
and management technologies through demand driven research. A good number of technologies have been disseminated During 1986 – 2013 fish production has increased more than two folds from 0.8 million mt to 3.30 million mt as result of dissemination of technologies.
