# Words and phrases that refer to an amount of money, fractions, distance, time intervals etc.
and class nouns that refer to clothing, furniture, stationery, cutlery etc. take singular verbs.
Eg. Twenty kilometers is a long distance to walk.
The furniture was quite old so we decided to replace it.
