energizer first.

(After doing the energizer)

- Are all feel energize now? Tempo is the speed of the music!

-Amazing! Please take your sit now. Melody is the tune or song of the music!

B. Quick Review
- Let see if you can still recall our topic yesterday.
Do you remember what tempo means? Yes!

- Very good! Yes!

- What about melody? What does that mean?

- Nice! Today, we will learn about two very

important parts of music: rhythm and beat!
C. Motivation
- (Play "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.")
- Listen carefully to the music. Can you feel the
rhythm?
- Can you feel the beat?

- Now, let’s clap together! I will clap with the

music. You can tap your feet or clap your hands
with me.

- Did you feel the beat?

-That’s the steady pulse of the music. It stays the
same all the time, like a heart beating.
- Did you hear the pattern of the claps?
- That’s the rhythm! Rhythm changes and is the
pattern of sounds.

D. Presentation
- Okay, let me explain more.

- Rhythm is the pattern of sounds and silences in

the music. It can be short or long sounds.
-Beat is the steady pulse of the music, like your
heart. It never changes.
- For example, listen to me: ba-ba-ba-ba (short
sounds) vs. baaaaa (long sound). That’s rhythm!
-And if I tap like this: tap tap tap (steady beat),
that’s the beat!
(Listen and follow the teacher’s explanation
E. Demonstration about rhythm and beat)
- Let’s try this together. I will sing 'Row, Row, (Clap along to the song "Row, Row, Row Your

singing.) (Use flashcards to help remember different note
values and rests)
- Now, I will clap a rhythm: ta-ta-ta-ta or ti-ti-ta-
ta. Can you hear the rhythm is different from the
beat?

F. Show Flashcards (Work together in groups to make up their own

- This is a quarter note (show flashcard with a (Practice clapping or tapping their rhythm while

- This is an eighth note (show flashcard with an (Present their rhythm to the class, clapping or
eighth note). It gets half a beat. tapping in front of everyone)
- And this is a rest (show flashcard with a rest). It
means silence for one beat.
G. Practice with Groups
- Now, I will divide you into small groups. Each
group will get a rhythm to practice. You will clap
your rhythm, but keep the beat steady.

(Give each group a simple rhythm to practice,

such as "ta-ta-ta-ta" or "ti-ti-ta-ta.")

- Remember, the beat stays the same, but the

rhythm changes.

H. Evaluation
- Now it’s your turn! I want each group to create a
short rhythmic pattern. You can clap or tap your
pattern.
- Remember, your rhythm should match the steady
beat. You can use ta, ti-ti, and rests!
- Let’s present our rhythms to the class.

I. Assignment
- For homework, I want you to choose a song.
Listen carefully for the beat.
- Try to clap along with the beat.
- Be ready to share your rhythm with the class
next time!
- Remember, the beat stays steady, but the rhythm
can change!
