I/ THE ZERO CONDITION (TYPE 0)

Simple present Simple present

Usage: for facts that are generally true or things that always happens/ scientific
facts.
Ex: 1. If you stand in the rain, you get wet. (generally true)
2. If you heat ice, it melts. (fact)
II / THE FIRST CONDITION (TYPE 1)( Real in present)

Simple present Will/Won’t + V bare

Usage: - a possible situation in the future


- predicting a likely result in the future (to talk about things that are likely to
happen in the future)
Ex: 1. If it rains, we will cancel this trip.
2. If you study hard, you will pass the exam.
Notes: Unless=if not
Ex: If he doesn’t come early, we won’t go out.
→ Unless he comes early, we won’t go out.
III/ THE SECOND CONDITION (TYPE 2) ( unreal in present)

Simple past Would + V bare

Usage: - talk about things that are unlikely to happen in the future.
- to give advice
