Introduction to MS Office 2007
Introduction

▪ Microsoft Office is a package of office productivity application software's


each serves a unique purpose and offers a specific service to its users.

▪ Microsoft Office was released by Microsoft and is available for Microsoft


Windows and Macintosh operating systems.

▪ Current versions for Windows and Macintosh is Office is 2021


Why You Need to Know the Microsoft Office Suite

• Popularity: Because Microsoft is used by so many businesses and sectors.

• Communication: You can communicate and collaborate more effectively with the
Microsoft tools and improve the quality of service you provide to your customers.

• Productivity: Microsoft helps you operate more efficiently so you can be more
productive.

• Simplicity: Each of the MS Office components is user-friendly and includes easy-


to-access help files built right in.
Office versions

What are the prominent office versions, you know? Mention them
COMPONENTS OF MICTROSOFT OFFICE:
▪ Microsoft Word: Helps users in creating text documents.

▪ Microsoft Excel: Creates simple to complex data/numerical spreadsheets.

▪ Microsoft PowerPoint: Stand-alone application for creating professional


multimedia presentations.

▪ Microsoft Access: Database management application.

▪ Microsoft Publisher: Introductory application for creating and publishing


marketing materials.
Microsoft Files
▪ File is an object on a computer that stores data, information, settings, or
commands used with a computer program.

▪ All Application under Microsoft Office create a file as the way of storage.

▪ Each file has to have the filename and extension name

Common Features for every MS Office application
Title bar

• This lies in the middle and at the top of the window. Title bar shows
the program and document titles.
Quick Access Toolbar
▪ This you will find just beside the Office Button or File tab.

▪ It’s Quick access to other applications

▪ Provides Shortcut, which is used for the following:

i. Create a new file based on templates and wizards

ii. Opening existing files

iii. Saves the files

v. Share the files etc..

• Office Button: This is where you come when you need to open, create new
files, save files, print a file, and do other file-related operations.

• After the version of Microsoft Office 2007 the Office Tab was named File Tab

Ribbon
• A ribbon is a command bar that organizes a program's features into a series of
tabs at the top of a window.
• A ribbon replace both the traditional menu bar and toolbars.
Ribbon
Ribbon contains commands organized in three components:
▪ Ribbon Tabs: These appear across the top of the Ribbon and contain groups of
related commands. Home, Insert, Page Layout are examples of ribbon tabs.

▪ Groups: They organize related commands; each group name appears below the
group on the Ribbon. For example, group of commands related to fonts or group
of commands related to alignment, etc.
• Commands: Commands appear within each group as
mentioned above.
• Dialog Box Launcher: which are buttons at the
bottom of some groups that open dialog boxes
containing features related to the group.
Window Control
• Are use to Minimize (-), Maximize (to have full screen)
and the Exit (X), when you click on individual Buttons.
Help
• The Help Icon can be used to get word related help anytime
you like. This provides nice tutorial on various subjects related
to word.
