Summer Activities+Homework+Worksheets Class IV
Summer Activities+Homework+Worksheets Class IV
WARM REGION
SESSION 2024-2025
1. Introduction
a. APSACS understands the importance of independent learning and self-discipline. The
Summer Homework Guide allows students to take ownership of their education, while
allowing them to develop life skills such as time management, organization, and self-
motivation. By completing these assignments, they will not only strengthen their academic
abilities but also cultivate the qualities that will support them throughout their learning
journey.
b. Additionally, enrichment and exploration activities are included that go beyond the
traditional classroom curriculum. These activities are designed to provide them with
opportunities to delve into their interests, conduct research, engage in creative projects,
and give back to their community. We believe that learning should extend beyond the
confines of textbooks and classrooms, and these activities will encourage students to think
critically, explore new horizons and develop a well-rounded perspective of the world.
c. We hope that the APSACS Holiday Homework Guide will be an exciting and rewarding
journey for them. We invite students to approach these assignments with enthusiasm and
curiosity. Embrace the opportunities to learn, grow, and discover new passions.
Remember, the joy of learning never takes a break and we are here to support. Have a
fantastic time!
2. Role of Parents
a. It is widely acknowledged that children learn best when the significant adults in their lives -
parents, teachers, and other family and community members work together to encourage
and support them.
b. Schools alone cannot fulfill all of a child's developmental needs. The meaningful involvement
of parents and the support from the community are essential components for a holistic and
effective education. When parents and teachers collaborate, they create a strong foundation
for a child's learning journey, fostering an environment that promotes academic success,
personal growth and overall well-being.
c. Parents, as the primary caregivers and advocates for their children, possess unique insights
into their child's strengths, interests, and challenges. When parents and teachers join forces,
they bring together valuable perspectives, expertise, and resources. This collaborative
partnership allows for a more comprehensive understanding of each child, enabling
educators to tailor instruction to meet individual needs and maximize learning potential.

3. Some tips for parents
a. Set a schedule. To keep the learning going during the vacations, it is important for children
to have a schedule. This will help them stay on track with their learning and activities.
b. Be flexible. Things don’t always go according to plan, so be prepared to be flexible. If it rains,
for example, you can plan a rainy-day activity instead of your original plan.
c. Make it fun! Vacation should be a time for children to have fun. So, make sure to include
plenty of meaningful activities that they enjoy.
d. Discuss together. Parents can involve their children in local events, summer camps, or
family-friendly destinations and can recommend educational or skill-building opportunities
that are both enjoyable and enriching.
e. Support child's learning. Parents can encourage their children to pursue hobbies, explore
new interests, or engage in educational programs. They can provide resources, such as
books, art supplies, or online courses, to support their children's learning and development.
f. Spend quality time. Vacation offers a wonderful opportunity for parents to spend quality
time with their children by planning family outings, game nights, or cooking together.
Engaging in shared experiences strengthens the parent-child relationship and creates
cherished memories by going on family trips or organizing special outings.
g. Build self-confidence. Parents can empower their children to make decisions, take
responsibility, and explore their own interests. Encourage their children to participate in
sports, go swimming, ride bikes, or simply engage in imaginative play, arts and crafts or
science experiments.
4. Essential Values and Practices for all Levels
a. Wake up early in the morning and make your bed every day.
b. Fulfill your religious obligations.
c. Have breakfast with your family and make it a daily habit.
d. Plan your day and stick to your plan. Aim to develop a balance between life and technology;
practice self- control. Parents must identify NO Cell Phone Zones in the home. Practice
disconnecting from the virtual world and stepping into the real world, switching between
screens must be discouraged.
e. Dedicate time to your family and siblings and be completely available to them to enjoy good
family time.
f. Reflect on your daily achievements, cherish each moment, and develop a sense of gratitude,
not entitlement.
g. Remember to smile at people who serve you in any way. Be around, lend a hand and
remember that no job is menial if done honorably.
h. Be aware, develop and practice good hygienic toilet manners.
i. Make a daily exercise routine to become physically fit, strong and healthy.
j. Be the first to extend your greetings. Practice being grateful and be the first one to apologize.
k. Plan for the next day before going to bed. Stay in the present, learn from the past & keep an
eye on the future.
l. Ensure that any decision or action is based on rational discussion/debate with parents and
resolved with mutual agreement, giving respect to parental wishes.
m. Take the responsibility of switching off lights, fans and air conditioner before leaving a room.
Also remember to close the tap before leaving kitchen or toilet to conserve resources.

APSACS SUMMER FITNESS PLAN FOR SESSION 2024-25
Summer vacation provides an excellent opportunity for students to focus on their physical,
mental, and emotional well-being by performing various home chores & physical activities. This
comprehensive fitness plan aims to cater to students aged 3 to 16, addressing their diverse needs and
interests while promoting a balanced approach to health and fitness.
1. Instructions for School Administration. To ensure a more holistic experience for students the
school administration is therefore required to engage their PTIs / Coaches / Physical Trainers of their
respective school, during summer holidays, through WhatsApp groups. Students can share/submit
videos & photographs of their activities through this platform.
2. Instructions for Parents
a. Make the given activities a part of your daily routine. From household chores to an after-
dinner walk, keep your family active every day.
b. It is important for your child to engage in aerobic activities, such as walking, running, or any
exercise that elevates their heart rate, for at least 60 minutes every day. This is crucial
because cardio exercises help strengthen the heart muscles.
c. Limit time spent in sedentary activities, such as watching TV, using electronic devices, being
online, and playing video games.
d. Take advantage of local playgrounds/parks. Make family fitness outings part of your routine.
Let family members choose an activity — go hiking or try out the rock-climbing gym. Anything
goes, as long as everyone can participate.
e. Provide nutritious snacks and plenty of water throughout the day to support energy levels
and hydration.
f. Encourage healthy eating habits by offering a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and
dairy products.
g. Ensure sun safety measures are in place during outdoor activities, including playtime during
cooler hours of the day to minimize sun exposure and risk of heat-related illnesses.
h. Maintain a flexible schedule that allows for a balance of active play, structured activities, and
rest time throughout the day.
3. Advantages
a. Through physical activities, kids learn about sportsmanship, setting goals, meeting
challenges, teamwork, and the value of practice.
b. At 6 to 8 years old, children are honing basic physical skills like jumping, throwing, kicking,
and catching. Non-competitive leagues are better for younger ones. You can support your
child by coaching their team or cheering from the stands on game days.
c. 9 to 12 years children are refining, improving, and coordinating skills. Some become even
more committed to a sport while others drop out as competition heats up and level of play
improves.
4. Precautions
a. Children who participate in sports are at risk of injuries, so be sure you wear the proper
protective equipment, such as a helmet and protective pads etc.
b. A child with a chronic health condition or disability should not be excluded from fitness
activities. Some activities may need to be changed or adapted, and some may be too risky
depending on the condition. Talk to the doctor about which activities are safe for your child.
c. Active children tend to stay fit and healthy, leading to better academic performance and
reduced risk of obesity and serious illnesses like high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart
disease later in life

Tidy-Up Room Encourage your children to keep their room clean. Help them
organize their toys and make their bed.
Clean out the trash, teach the importance of throwing garbage in
the trash can.
Clean Meal Table Cleaning a table after a meal is one of the simplest yet most
important chores.
Ask your kids to clean the table after meal time while you are
picking up cookware and transporting it back to the kitchen.
Setting Book Stand Help your children to sort books via authors or alphabetically.
Always encourage them to keep their study tables, books and bags in
perfect order.
Organize The Toys Always take time out with your children each week to sort toys.

At least 3 x activities to be performed on daily basis (recommended an 30-40 min of physical
activity every day for their overall healthy body).
Time Duration and number of steps can be reduced or increased as per the stamina and physical
fitness of the child.
Parents are requested to supervise their children during physical exercises.
Stretching Stretches to try include side stretch, hamstring stretch, fingers-to-
toes, arm circles, arms to the sky, calf stretch, and runner’s stretch.
After a workout, it’s beneficial for children to do a stretching sequence
and cool down to help transition into a more
relaxed state.
Cycling Find a suitable location to cycle, far from traffic.
Wear the correct riding gear, covered shoes, knee, and elbow pads.

Pluto, once considered the ninth planet, is now recognized as a "dwarf planet." It is too small to be
considered a planet. Despite its small size, Pluto has some fascinating features. Covered in icy
mountains, Pluto's surface boasts a heart-shaped region called "Tombaugh Regio," named after its
discoverer, Clyde Tombaugh.
This tiny celestial body, smaller than Earth's moon so Pluto orbits the Sun in an unusual pattern,
taking about 248 Earth years for a complete revolution. Situated in the outer reaches of our solar
system, Pluto experiences bone chilling temperatures, dropping as low as -375 degrees Fahrenheit
(-229 degrees Celsius).
Its thin atmosphere is mainly composed of nitrogen, adding to its icy allure. In the captivating
world of tennis, Roger Federer stands as a true icon, celebrated for his extraordinary talent,
sportsmanship, and enduring passion for the sport.

Topic: Comprehension
Q.1: Read the comprehension and answer the questions below
Are all rocks the same? No way! Rocks can be different shapes, sizes, textures, and colors. There are 3 different types
of rocks that can affect what a rock looks and feels like. The three types of rocks are sedimentary, igneous, and
metamorphic.Sedimentary rocks are a mixture of dirt, rocks, mud, shells, and other materials that are on the bottoms of
oceans and other bodies of water, and get compacted together over many years. Sometimes you can even see different
layers in sedimentary rocks. The second type of rock is the igneous rock. These rocks are created from magma that cools
and hardens. Many rocks start out as igneous rocks. Igneous rocks have glass crystals filled with minerals in them. They
do not usually have layers, and are very smooth. The third type of rock is the metamorphic rock. These rocks are formed
when the other types of rocks are subjected to intense heat and pressure to change them. Metamorphic rocks are hard
and smooth, like igneous rocks. Just like plants and animals have a life cycle, rocks can go through a rock cycle! Many
rocks start from magma or lava, so they are igneous rocks. The rock cycle is different than a life cycle of a plant or
animal, though, because a rock doesn’t have to go through the cycle in order, and it may not go through all the stages.
Even though there are only three different types of rocks based on how they’re formed, each type actually has many
different subcategories of rock. For example obsidian, granite, and basalt are three types of igneous rocks. This is why
there are so many different colored rocks. Many people love to collect rocks because of how different each one can be
