Job Title Head - Industrial Engineering (IE)
Reporting to Direct: MD Indirect:
Division/ Department Industrial Engineering
JOB PURPOSE
IE Head leads and oversees Industrial Engineering at United Creations manufacturing facilities in Jordan in a co-
managed environment, where this position and Operational leaders set the overall project priorities
mentor/develop the engineer to deliver value to customer networks. This position supports the Operating System
model of operations transformation through the integration of operational excellence principles across the
enterprise and its value streams to create a complete systemic view, leading to consistent achievement of results.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Costing
1. To ensure Style simplification and method improvement - after order confirmation, he needs to re-
analyze the evaluated garment for better and economical methods to reduce the labor cost per garment
to stay in safe margin. Work on reduction of SMV by construction simplification related to seam and
method without affecting the actual appearance of sample or improve method the garment SMV can be
reduced. Ensure that the correct tools be utilized to solve the most important problems affecting
customer’s satisfaction, quality, cost, and delivery.
2. To prepare Operation bulletin – Making and approving OB. OB so finalized should have the final approval
/ acceptance by the Production Head during Order confirmation stage , (for costing it should be updated
as per Tech Pack before submitting the costing), and Production OB should be finalized within 7 days of
order/projection confirmation. (Folder / Attachment/ Automation/ Machine Requirement/ should be
added at this stage point)
3. To ensure CMT estimation - Providing estimated labor cost (CMT) and productivity to merchandising
department.
4. To ensure Manpower – Machine Ratio does not cross the range of 1.25 to 1.33. If this ratio is crossing
during the costing stage itself, Management approval should be sought in advance.
5. To ensure that the cost of the operators are captured and considered in the Costing projection while
projecting the OB Manpower and to ensure that the Cost is optimized.
6. To ensure a comparative analysis of more cost-efficient option at the OB stage itself and propose the
right approach to save manning costs.
Production
7. To Co-ordinate with planning department for allocation of similar styles, capacity plan, line plan and
factory monthly plan based on the history of line and factory efficiency.
8. To co-ordinate with Planning dept and ensure that all the machineries and folders are available 4
months prior to production start date and we have to give a solution with alternate machines.
9. To suggest automations required to reduce foreign workers as well as to do the work efficiently.
10. To ensure all operations SMV is verified during the sampling stage and also they have to ensure that all
operations are covered in the OB in sequence.
11. To release OB only at an efficiency of 85% + only for the orders more than 10,000 pieces. And for orders
less than 10,000 pieces, an efficiency of 75% should be considered.
12. To ensure that the target is coming within maximum 3 days.
13. To release style OB, prepare line layout and thread consumption chart for line(s) based on scheduled
plan within 3 days of line Start
14. To do pre-production activity 21 days prior to production start date and should confirm the OB received
from costing, covering all parameters.
15. To ensure the major defects of Color shading, Printing and Measurements are eliminated at every stage
of the production process by the Garment Technician and QC.

16.5 To address the issues of Shrinkage, Curing and Heat seal shrinkage

17. To co-ordinate with planning department for improving the Pre- production activities
18. To co-ordinate with Factory manager for cut plan and finishing plan based on delivery priority.
19. To audit factory and lines to ensure the operation bulletin and line layout are followed by line supervisor
People Management:
20. To co-ordinate with HR for identifying the skill requirements, assess the current skill sets, identify the
gaps and be trainers for equipping the people with the required skills and for evaluating the progress
made by trainees in the acquisition of the required skills, especially in critical operations and multi
skilling and facilitate in creation of skill banks.
21. To identify the Skill Matrix of all OB Manpower and to ensure the right skill matrix is available for the
right operation in the line before line feeding up during the pre-production activity .
22. To provide expertise and guidance to all IEs and Jr.IE and to validate their Job goals and key action
guidelines for the execution of their jobs in all factories, evaluate their performance and progress and
lead them to deliver their expected performance standards.
23. To monitor and validate employee production Incentive report as per the policy and submit the report to
HR for final approval.
Continuous Improvement:
24. To work on new projects if any and suggesting advanced techniques in garment manufacturing
25. To research and explore new machinery and latest systems that meets companies long term goal and
preparing cost benefits analysis and ROI for the same.
26. To do research and development for samples prior to production start.
27. To take initiative on lean manufacturing, learning of lean tools and looking for scope of implementation
in the factory.
28. To align the organization around lean principles and drive establishment of lean systems in all areas
through use of strategic planning activities
29. To utilize lean and six sigma methodologies to reduce waste and variation within the operation
30. To gain input from customers to define project priority, set goals and objectives and obtain feedback on
performance
31. To develop and implement appropriate companywide measurement systems that drive correct actions
and support to attain business goals
32. To do data analysis and investigate monthly trends of each KPI (key performance indicator) and control
them after setting a benchmark.
33. To do productivity analysis – Analyzing the labor productivity of the factory and sewing lines. Estimating
line capacity for all new development styles based on garment sketch or samples.
34. To upload all the Production and Costing OBs in the OM and GRACE system.
35. To do the updation and upkeep of various factory efficiency reports in the ERP system

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
QUALIFICATIONS
• A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering with a master’s degree preferred
• Minimum 15 years’ experience as an Industrial Engineer, and minimum 5 years of it as a leader, in a
garment manufacturing environment
• Understand basic techniques of IE-as time study, capacity study, method study, operator performance,
Off-standard time
• Awareness of product development from conceptualization to finished design for textiles is preferred
• Lean certification preferred
• Experience in a customer facing role defining expectations and achieving results
• Should be a GSD License Practitioner (Garment Sewing Data)
