Sample Expectations for Area Directors.

As a candidate for Area Director, I have read and acknowledge the following (please check off):

❏ I will be a member of the District Executive Committee (DEC) and therefore will be
required to attend DEC meetings on a Saturday in Fort Lauderdale. The schedule is as
follows:
❏ Area Director Training – June ___,
❏ September ___,
❏ November ___ (Sunday at Fall Conference),
❏ March ___,
❏ May ___ (Sunday at Spring Conference)
❏ In addition, planning calls will be held monthly with the Division teams.
❏ Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) [Club Officer Training] is another aspect of my
responsibilities; it goes back to commitment to serving the clubs of the District. TLI is
held multiple times, 2 times a year. I agree to attend these TLI’s to help with training
the club officers.
❏ I agree to visit every club in my assigned area a minimum of twice during the year within
the timeframes defined in the District Leadership Handbook.
❏ I agree to run 2 sets of Area Contests, one in the fall and one in the spring.
❏ I agree to communicate with the club officers in my assigned clubs on a regular and
consistent basis.
❏ I agree to communicate with my Division Director, Club Growth Director, Program
Quality Director, District Director and other District representatives on a regular and
consistent basis.
❏ Conferences are held twice a year. I am encouraged to attend the Fall Conference in
_________, November _____and the Spring Conference in _____________, May _____.
❏ I agree to do my best to assist all existing clubs in my area to achieve Distinguished
Status.
❏ I agree to do my best to establish at least one new club during my tenure.
❏ I agree to fulfill all responsibilities and duties of an Area Director as outlined in the
District Leadership Handbook.
❏ I understand that other duties may be asked of me to help meet the needs of members
and clubs in District 47.
