A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN CAMPUS JOURNALISM

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

A. Explain the concept of modern day journalism;


B. Reflect on the importance of journalism in our everyday lives; and
C. Create a slogan about journalism.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic: Scope and Nature of Journalism
Materials: Newspaper, Magazines, Bond paper, Blackboard, Chalk

III. PROCEDURES

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer
Class, before we start the lesson, let us (One student leads the prayer)
give thanks and ask for the Lord’s
guidance.

1. Motivation: Charades (One student comes in front)

2. Discussion
To better understand what journalism is, (Student read the definition)
please read the definition. Journalism is the collection, preparation and
distribution of news and related commentary
and feature materials through such print and
electronic media. The word “journal” comes
from the Latin word “diurnal” which means
“daily”. In ancient Rome, short bulletins of
battles, fires and elections compiled by
government officials were posted up in public
places. These were called “acta diurnal” which
meant “daily events”

journalism is a daily register of one’s
activities.
