obligation - can be on only one party

contract - must be atleast two party

ARTICLE 1156: an obligation is a juridical necessity to give, to do, or not to


do.

debtor or obligor - he who has the duty of giving, doing, or not doing

creditor or obligee - he who has the right to the performance of the obligation

if obligations were not made enforceable, then people can disregard them with impunity

MORAL OBLIGATION - expectation of others of you


NATURAL OBLIGATION - brought upon yourself

CIVIL OBLIGATIONS - obligations which give to the creditor or obligee a right of action in courts
of justice to enforce their performance.

CIVIL OBLIGATION TO NATURAL OBLIGATION

exists if, for example, a written contracts have been long overdue (i.e., 10 yrs due)

oral contracts are only enforceable to the courts of justice for 6 yrs upon the construction
of the contract

repercussions voluntarily paid by the obligor cannot be taken back
