NON-LINEAR ANALYSIS OF BUCKLING OF COLUMN

Problem 7.1
An Rectangular profile column is assumed to be fixed at the bottom end. The column is made up of
steel having the material properties of E=210 GPa and yield stress = 345 MPa. By using Ansys
workbench, determine the displacement, buckling stress acting on the column by considering the
Non-linear load case. The load is 1000 N acting at the top of the column. The length of the column is
1500mm.

Problem 7.2
An I section profile column is assumed to be fixed at the bottom end. The column is made up of
Aluminium having the material properties of E=70 GPa and yield stress = 276 MPa. By using the
Ansys workbench determine the displacement, buckling stress acting on the column by considering
the Non-linear load case. The load is 1500 N acting at the top of the column. The length of the column
is 2000mm. Consider, Flange - 50mm, Web height - 65mm, Height of flange - 15mm, Thickness of
web-20mm.
