What is HYSYS Stream Reporter (HSR)
• HSR is excel tool which allow users to extract stream data from
HYSYS to Excel.
• This helps to generate Heat and Material Balance (HMB)

HSR V14 or Latest Version
• According to https://esupport.aspentech.com/S_Article?id=000102244
“There is no new HSR created for V14. If you would like to use HSR, we
recommend using the latest version, V12.1, and in the tool change the option
to “latest version installed”.

How to Use HSR?
• Open your HYSYS file. For this example I use: C:\Program Files\AspenTech\Aspen HYSYS
V14.0\Samples\Natural Gas Dehydration with TEG with CPA.hsc

Open HSR File
• Open HSR Excel file

Updating the Lists of Simulations and Streams
Updated base on the HYSYS file(s) being opened
• Click Update Lists You can open/extract stream information from
multiple HYSYS files

Adding Streams to be Reported
• Sorting: don’t worry about this, typically I will keep it as Ascending.
• This is only the sorting of list of stream AVAILABLE in the
simulation files

Tick here if you want to show ONLY the Visible Stream

Adding Streams to be Reported
• I normally just add the stream to be reported one by one,
according to the order I want it to be displayed

❶ Select the stream


❶ Select the stream

❷ Click the Use Selected

❸ Stream will be added to this list

❹Repeat 1-3 to add all the streams to be reported

You can also use “Use All”


Or select multiple streams by holding down Ctrl and click multiple streams

Choose Output Location
• I add the streams based on the sequence of the flow

❷ A New sheet will be added.
We can rename this.

Choose Output Location (Advance)
• Option 1: We can copy Output
sheet to another sheet, maintaining
the ability to update information
• Option 2: Convert Output sheet to
normal Excel worksheet (losing its
ability to update information)
• Option 3: Copy Output sheet and
convert it to normal Excel
worksheet (Retaining the original
output sheet, creating duplicate
normal excel sheet)

Choose Properties
• We can choose from pre-defined list such as “Refinery”, “All
Properties” etc.

Stream Summary is Generated!
• You can format the border and how the numbers should look like (decimal places, etc)
• Save the file
• Next time, if there is no changes, open the file and click Update Stream Table button
