Econometrics-Assignment ECON ESOM64
Econometrics-Assignment ECON ESOM64
You have to form the groups by yourself including 4 to 5 people. I expect that you have 11
groups at the maximum. Here is the data allocation for each group (the order of observation on
the first column of data set:
Group 1: Data from the 1st observation to 800th observation
Group 2: Data from the 801st observation to 1600th observation
Group 3: Data from the 1601st observation to 2400th observation
Group 4: Data from the 2401st observation to 3200th observation
Group 5: Data from the 3201st observation to 4000th observation
Group 6: Data from the 4001st observation to 4800th observation
Group 7: Data from the 4801st observation to 5600th observation
Group 8: Data from the 5601st observation to 6400th observation
Group 9: Data from the 6401st observation to 7200th observation
Group 10: Data from the 7201st observation to 8000th observation
Group 11: Data from the 8001st observation to 8800th observation
1. Data description:
You are given a data set in the excel file named
“Data_Assignment_Econ.xlsx”. This data was collected from the survey to
identify the determinants of Salary in which “Salary” is the salary of each
person in the survey. The other variables considered are Age (Years), Gender,
Education (degrees), Job_group, Experience (years of working).
This is the Group assignment in which you are required to write a report with no
limit of length.
2. Requirements
You are required to write a formal report for your work that contains the following
sections:
2.1. Introduction of your work
2.2. Reviewing theoretical background on the determinants of Salary (Wages)
and methods for studying this.
2.3. Specifying the linear models of ln(Salary) on other independent variables
(There are 3 dummy variables which were already created) and state your
hypothesis (expectation) on the relationship between dependent variable and
each independent variable
2.4. Using descriptive statistics to analyse the data (Frequency tables for
qualitative data (Gender, Education, Job_group), summary statistics, scatter
plots, correlation matrix for quantitative variables)
2.5. Model estimation: show your output, check with your hypothesis, explain
the results (coefficients and R2), do the test for the significance of variables
and models.
2.6. Do the diagnostic test for model validation.
2.7. Re-estimate the final model of your choice
2.8. Make any comments and recommendations.
Deadline for submission: Your representative of your class will compile all
TEAMS’ work in one file and send directly to my email (thenm@neu.edu.vn
at midnight, THREE DAYS before your final exam.
