1. Introduction:
For the past few weeks our group was engaged in the design thinking
assignments. To begin with, we conducted an interview of Aasha Kaku who
is a self-employed woman prepares tiffin for the nearby students and
through this she manages to take care of her family. During our
conversation we come to know about the hardships and struggles in her
life. She lost her husband in covid-19 pandemic and now she is the only
breadwinner in the family. We noted various problems, however primary
struggle was about the lack of financial resources. This could be solved to
some extent by scaling her tiffin business. We then started to find some
ideas for the solution to this problem. Also, we worked on a case study of
Mayo Clinic. All these activities are discussed in brief in following points.

2. Activities Undertaken:
We have done 4 activities throughout, which were based on the the design
thinking principle empathise, define, ideate, prototype and test. Before
each activity we had done a brainstorming session to get the maximum
number of ideas and from every point of view. The following are the details
of every activity
A. Empathize (Engaging Personas): We started with empathising with
Aasha Kaku first. As discussed in the introduction part we took an
interview of Aasha Kaku, noted down all the points and then
brainstormed about the design of persona. After short listing all the
points we started doing actual work on chart paper. Here are some
images of the Interview and the charts.

B. Define And Ideate (Mind-Map): This was the second task where we
must brainstorm to define the problem statement and a POV first for
which we conducted an online session to discuss. We decided to
choose the POV “Aasha Kaku needs to scale tiffin business because she
wants financial stability”. Then we started to focussing about Ideation
part. We use ‘HOW MIGHT WE’ method to find the solutions. Each one
of us suggested one principal solution and its further improvised
versions. The following are some images of our mind map and
brainstorming session.
(The theme of the Mind map is in way that, the primary ideas were in the form of
bulb which got the pulses through the neurons from the brain. Further these ideas
were bifurcated like the clouds.)
(This is how we short listed the final ideas during brainstorming session)
C. Prototype:
Coming back to the earlier project, now we must design a prototype for
Aasha Kaku to scale her business. We again had an offline brainstorming
session on how might we apply the solutions in an effective way. We
finally decided to make following things.
• A web page named Aasha Tiffin service: this will help to do
marketing and customer outreach. We are working on this
prototype following is the image of a basic landing page.
(This the landing page of the Aasha’s Tiffin service)
(Here is the link of the landing page
https://aashatiffin.ccbp.tech/
• A google business account: Here customers can give their reviews
and ratings. An example is as following image
• We are also going to help Aasha Kaku to get FSSAI certificate so
that she can list her business on the platforms like Zomato and
Swiggy.

D. Case-Study (Mayo Clinic):

We worked on the case study of a famous health-tech company “Mayo
Clinic”. We had an online session to discuss the procedure for this case
study. We decided to distribute each design thinking principle amongst
us and find out how Mayo Clinic used these principles in their business.
After the research we started making ppt.
3. Challenges faced:
No project can be completed without challenges. We faced various hurdles
at every task. Some were truly challenging. Few of the challenges are listed
below.

• Difference in opinion: Many times, it happened that all weren’t agreed

to a same point, creating confusion amongst us. But we finally ended
up with a common ground satisfying everyone’s point view.
• Understanding the problem: Every one of us taken out different
inferences from the interview. Hence selecting one problem
statement was a bit difficult.

4. Key Learnings:
There were many things that we learned from these projects which changed
our perspective of looking at a problem in some sense. Following are some
key takeaways
• We learned how to empathize with a person and how to understand
their problems with all perspectives
• We learned how to Ideate the solutions once you are aware of one’s
problem.
• We learned team management and how to work in a group and how
to deal with different points of view.
• We also learned how to use design thinking principles in real life by
studying the case study of Mayo Clinic.
• We also learned some drawing and painting art while making the
charts.

5. Impact Assessment:
We have drawn out some assumption about the Impact on Aasha Kaku’s
business by doing some market research.
• Business grows at a significantly high compounded growth rate.
• Gets more customers from COEP as well as from other colleges too.

6. Conclusion:
In conclusion, we would say that these activities have created a positive
impact on each of our lives. We learned various new things, applied our
individual expertise in making all the assignments well. Learned how to
apply design thinking principles. We also hope that our solutions and
prototype may help Aasha Kaku to scale her business.

7. Acknowledgment:
We would like to express a sincere gratitude to Prof Kshipra Moghe ma’am
for guiding us at every step. Thank you for such wonderful activities and
projects. These activities made us more empathetic and broaden our vison
to look forward to a problem and think of an effective solution for it.
