Questions
Nailing the LPs
As you're preparing for your interview, take the time to
review & understand Amazon's Leadership Principles
(LP's) (Link).

1. Start by reviewing your career journey

Refresh your memory on what you achieved in each role and your
motivation for changing roles
Think about why you’re exploring this role, what you’re really
good at, and what you enjoy the most
Note your biggest achievements, the toughest challenges you’ve
faced and overcome, and things that didn’t go well but where
you learnt from the experience

Hint: Customer Obsession will be covered at some point

2. Prepare stories to answer questions using the STAR

technique

Tip: you can find example questions for each of the LPs online
Use the STAR technique to frame and structure your stories
Tip: Questions normally begin with sentences like "tell me about
a time", "give me an example" OR "describe a project" and always
be prepared for follow-up questions eg. “In hindsight is there
anything you would have done differently”

Answers
Nailing the LPs

Create a pool of stories from across your career. You should

ideally come up with 10-15 examples, and they should be
across various parts of your career.

Don't forget, examples can be a combination of major

achievements, failures and learnings
Be sure to provide relevant context when describing a situation
And be confident when it comes to using data (qualitative &
quantitative) in order to measure the outcome
As you prepare & practice, have a go at converting these stories
into the below format; use the template and write them out,
then try practicing your responses with a friend to get used to
the structure

Situation: Introduce the background of the situation

and provide context

Task: Describe what needed to be done and why

Action: Explain the action YOU took

Result: Describe the results in terms of benefits

realised, ideally using qualitative or quantitative data
