1. Volume: Volume refers to the massive amount of data generated and collected from
various sources, such as social media, transactions, sensors, and devices.
2. Velocity: Velocity is the rate at which data flows into a system, often in real-time. It
emphasizes the need for quick processing and analysis of fast-arriving data to keep up
with the speed of generation.
3. Variety: It highlights the diversity of data sources and structures, which can include:
i. Structured data: Databases and spreadsheets,
ii. Semi-structured data: JSON and XML files

4. Veracity: With such large data being generated, not all of it is accurate or applicable.

2. Diagnostic Analysis (Why did it Happen?): Diagnostic analysis uncovers the root
causes behind certain events or outcomes by identifying relationships, patterns, and
correlations between different data points.
3. Predictive Analysis (What will happen?): Predictive analysis is a type of data analysis
that uses historical data, statistical algorithms, and machine learning techniques to
predict future outcomes or trends.

analysis techniques since it not only forecasts future events but also recommends the
optimal course of action to get a specific objective.

strategy.
