a. Interior b. Exterior c. Circumference d. None of the above
2) The longest chord of the circle is:
a. Radius b. Arc c. Diameter d. Segment
3) Equal _____ of the congruent circles subtend equal angles at the centers.
a. Segments b. Radii c. Arcs d. Chords
4) If chords AB and CD of congruent circles subtend equal angles at their centres, then:
a. AB = CD b. AB > CD c. AB < AD d . None of the above
5) If there are two separate circles drawn apart from each other, then the maximum
number of common points they have:
a. 0 b. 1 c. 2 d. 3
6) The angle subtended by the diameter of a semi-circle is:
a. 90o b. 45o c. 1800 d. 60o
7) If AB and CD are two chords of a circle intersecting at point E, as per
the given figure. Then:
a.∠BEQ > ∠CEQ b. ∠BEQ = ∠CEQ
c. ∠BEQ < ∠CEQ d. None of the above
8) If a line intersects two concentric circles with centre O at A, B, C and
D, then:
a. AB = CD b. AB > CD c. AB < CD d. None of the above
9) In any triangle ABC, if the angle bisector of ∠A and perpendicular
bisector of BC intersect, prove that they intersect on the circumcircle of
the triangle ABC.

10) Two chords AB and CD of lengths 5 cm and 11 cm respectively of a

circle are parallel to each other and are on opposite sides of its centre. If the distance
between AB and CD is 6, find the radius of the circle.
11) If circles are drawn taking two sides of a triangle as diameters, prove that the point of
intersection of these circles lies on the third side.
12) If arcs AXB and CYD of a circle are congruent, find the ratio of AB and CD.
13) AB and AC are two equal chords of a circle. Prove that the bisector of the angle BAC
passes through the centre of the circle.
14) If a line segment joining mid-points of two chords of a circle passes through the centre
of the circle, prove that the two chords are parallel.
15) ABCD is such a quadrilateral that A is the centre of the circle passing through B, C and D.
Prove that ∠CBD + ∠CDB = 1⁄2 ∠BAD
16) O is the circumcentre of the triangle ABC and D is the mid-point of the base BC. Prove
that ∠BOD = ∠A.
17) Two chords AB and AC of a circle subtends angles equal to 90o and 150o, respectively at
the centre. Find ∠BAC, if AB and AC lie on the opposite sides of the centre.
Directions:
a) both Assertion and reason are correct and reason is correct explanation for Assertion
b) both Assertion and reason are correct but reason is not correct explanation for Assertion
c) Assertion is correct but reason is false
d) both Assertion and reason are false
18)Assertion: A chord of a circle, which is twice as long as its radius, is a diameter of the circle.
Reason: As we know that any chord whose length is twice as long as the radius of the circle always passes
through the centre of the circle
19) Assertion: circle is a plane figure.
Reason: circle is a 2d figure and it can be drawn on a plane.
20)Assertion: A circle has only one centre.
Reason: A circle is defined as the path traced by a moving point that always remains at a fixed distance
from a given fixed point.
Case Study:
21) Ankit visited in a mall with his father.
He sees that three shops are situated at P,
Q, R as shown in the figure from where
they have to purchase things according to
their need. Distance between shop P and
Q is 8 m, that of between shop Q and R is
10 m and between shop P and R is 6 m.
Considering O as the centre of the circle,
answer the following questions.
(i) Find the radius of the circle.
(ii) Measure of ∠QPR is
(iii) Area of ∆PQR is
(iv) Length of the longest chord of the circle is
(v) In figure, PSQR is known as ……………
22) A farmer has a circular garden as shown in the picture above . He
has a different type of tree, plants and flower plants in his garden. In
the garden, there are two mango trees A and B at a distance of
AB=10m.Similarly has two Ashok trees at the same distance of 10m
as shown at C and D AB subtends ∠AOB=1200 at the center O, The
perpendicular distance of AC from center is 5m the radius of the
circle is 13m. Using this information answer the following:
A) what is the value of ∠COD?
B) What is the distance between mango tree A and Ashok tree C?
C) What is the value of angle ∠AOB?
D) What is the value of angle ∠OCD?
E) What is the value of ∠ODC?
