I. Introductory Concept:
Hi! Hello! Welcome to Information and Communication Technology Subject. This is an
elective subject in the General Academic Strand.
Technology plays a major role in the world in which we live, Information Communication
Technology (ICT) is an integral part of almost everyone’s life; be it at work, in education or
socially. As Senior High School student you are given opportunity to develop the skills
required. To start let me introduce to you OHS.
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Policy- An information and communication
technology (ICT) student should know how to behave when working in the computer
laboratory, as well as implement a safe way of accomplishing every task. Safety practices
should be learned early and always adheres in working with any electrical and electronic
device, including personal computers and its peripherals. This is for your protection as well as
to the people working with you, and for the devices that you are using.
The OSH Law provides that each Filipino worker is protected against injury, sickness or
death through safe and healthful working conditions and that employers must promote strict
but dynamic, inclusive, and gender-sensitive measures in the formulation and implantation of
policies and programs related to occupational.
The Occupational Safety and Health Standards was formulated in 1978 in compliance with
the constitutional mandate to safeguard the worker’s social and economic well-being as well
as his physical safety and health.

7S of Good Housekeeping
To optimize the physical workspace for efficiency and effectiveness the 7S is here. It is the
most basic and fundamental approach for productivity and quality improvement in all types of
business.
According to Donglayan, the 7S’s are:
1. Sort – Identifying and eliminating unnecessary items in the workplace
2. Systematize – Arranging necessary items in good order for use
3. Sweep – Cleaning your workplace and equipment
4. Standardize – Maintaining a high standard of good housekeeping
5. Safety – Maintaining a safe workplace
6. Self-discipline -Doing things spontaneously without being told or ordered
7. Sustain – Continuing 7s activities in order to achieve consistently good results
