module English Language in the English Studies degree program of the University of Valencia. It is also part of the Translation and Interlinguistic Mediation
undergraduate program and of the English Studies minor in the Modern Languages and Literatures, Catalan Language and Literature, Hispanic Studies, and
Classics degree programs.
The aim of this course is to develop communicative skills in English (reading comprehension and written expression) up to a B2 level in multiple contexts. At
the same time, the course aims to promote autonomous learning, self-assessment, and remedial work with the teacher.

Methodology:
 Participation is essential in class. A language can only be learned if it is practiced.
 There will be lectures in which students will be given the necessary theoretical input, which can be complemented by the workbook and the specific
bibliography.
 Autonomous learning is highly recommended.

*Part A will only be taken into consideration if the student passes part B. The writing assignments in
part A can only be done DURING the course. After the end of the course, it will not be possible to
submit any writing assignments. This means that whatever the grade for part A is at the end of the
course, it will be taken over to the second sitting, either 0% or 20%. If, for example, a student does not
do any written assignments during the course, he/she will get 0% for Part A. This means that they will
only be able to obtain a maximum of 80% in both the first and the second sitting. Therefore, they will
have to obtain an average grade of at least 60% in part B to pass the course. We recommend that
students do all three written assignments.

*A B1+ level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages in reading,
writing and use of English is necessary to successfully pass this course.
Attendance at in-person sessions is highly recommended for successfully passing the course. Please
note that office hours should not be used to ask the lecturer to explain course material missed due to
absence from class, unless they are duly justified.
