3 PREFACE
This user manual contains essential information on operating iSYM AHC SubSea Winch Control, and
explains the system’s functions and features.

4 HOW TO USE THIS MANUAL

In this user manual we have sought to provide a user-friendly structure that starts out explaining the basic
features and components of the system and gradually becomes more detailed.
Chapters 1 to 6 form an introduction to the system units and basic operation of iSYM AHC control.
The control panels and all the functions of the system are explained in chapter 7.
Chapter 8 explains data presentation on the computer monitor and how to save calibration files and settings
to/from a USB stick, and how to upgrade the system software.
Chapter 9 is a description of operational modes. Chapter 10 gives an overview of the system alarms.
Chapter 11 gives an overview of the iCON system.

9 OPERATIONAL MODES
Operational mode is selected by pressing the mode buttons on the control panels. Light in the button will
indicate active mode, information on active mode will also be found on the operators display and on the
iSYM monitoring screen.

9.1 Standby Mode

Power on is active. No outputs active.

9.2 Normal mode

Manual operation. Pump is running. Panlel light “Normal” is on. Winch and crane is operated using joysticks.

9.3 Active Heave Compensation (AHC) Mode

AHC mode can only be selected if Normal mode is active. The length must also be inside min and max
length limits and the slew angle must be valid. The winch speed is automatically controlled to compensate for
vessel heave motion, winch pressure is at maximum.
The operator can pay in or pay put by using the local panel joystick. Crane can be manually operated using
the joysticks.

11 iCON AHC CONFIGURATION AND CALIBRATION

Configuration and calibration of the iCON AHC computer is done through the controllers web interface.
Connection to the web interface can be made from any computer with a web reader installed. Best practice
will be to use the iSYM Computer. This chapter covers the basic settings for this system.

Open http://192.168.127.90 for access to the configuration menus. The page will look like Figure 1.

changes are saved. Selecting user level higher than 1, will require a password. The default password is
blank.

11.1.2 Save/Discard new settings

The system will detect if any changes has been done, new settings must be saved or else they will be lost on
system reboot. The “Save new settings” and “Discard new settings” button will be enabled when new
changes are detected. Pressing “Discard new settings” will restart the controller and must only be used when
the system is not operational.

11.1.3 Load/Save configuration file

The iCON configuration should be backed up when the system has been set up and tuned. A good practice
will also be to backup the file with regular interval. The backup file is storing all system specific information
and can be used for setting up a new identically controller.
