1. Establishing a purpose for the
lesson REVIEW:

In our last meeting, we

discussed how to
formulate statistical mini-
research.
Research is defined as the
creation of new knowledge
1. Now, what is research? and/or the use of existing
knowledge in a new and
creative way so as to generate
new concepts, methodologies
and understandings.

Very good! The background of the study

establishes the context of the
research. This section explains
2. What about the backround why this particular research
of the study? topic is important and essential
to understanding the main
aspects of the study.
Statement of the problem is a
concise description of the
Great job! problem or issues a project
seeks to address.
3. How about the statement of
the problem?
The significance of a study is a
written statement that explains
Excellent! the importance of the research
and its impact on the research
4. Now, what about the field.
significance of the study?
Fantastic!

MOTIVATION:

In our last meeting, we

discussed how to
formulate statistical mini -
research.

And to test if you are

really equipped to move
on to our next topic, let's
first have a group activity.
The title of the activity is
“Research Me.” I will be
dividing you into three
groups. Each group will
have a box containing
questions that require you
to find items based on
what is written in the
questions. After finding all
the objects, you will need
to determine what the
shuffled letters spell Yes sir.
based on the first letter of
each item's name. The
group that finishes first
will be declared the METHODOLOGY
winner and will receive a
prize.

Is that clear to everyone?

Q1 :Find an object that

starts with the letter M.
Q2 :Find an object that
starts with the letter E.
Q3 :Find an object that
starts with the letter T.
Q4 :Find an object that
starts with the letter H.
Q5 :Find an object that
starts with the letter O.
Q6 :Find an object that
starts with the letter D.
Q7 :Find an object that
starts with the letter O.
Q8 :Find an object that
starts with the letter L.
Q9 :Find an object that
starts with the letter O.
Q10 :Find an object that
starts with the letter G.
Q11 :Find an object that
starts with the letter Y.

Good job, class! It seems

like you enjoyed our
activity. I hope you
learned a lot in our game.
Well now, prepare
yourself because this has
something to do with our
topic.

2. Presenting So, our topic for today is all

examples/instances of the about formulating mini-
new lesson statistical research.

In formulating statistical mini

research, we have
methodology.
Will you read it (students (The student will read what is
name). written on the slides.)
Do you have any ideas about (Students answer may vary.)
what you read?

When we talk about

methodology, it refers to the
systematic approach used in
research to collect, analyze,
and interpret data.
It’s about how you'll
organize the study, how
you'll gather information,
who or what you'll study,
and how you'll analyze the
data.

Next, we have results and

findings. Results are the raw data or
Will you read it (students outcomes from a study, like
name). test scores or survey answers.
Findings are the
interpretations or conclusions
drawn from those results,
explaining what the data
means.

(Students answer may vary.)

What is your insights about
what you read?

Very Good!

Results are the answers or

information you get from your
research (like how many
people answered yes or no on
a survey), while findings are
what you learn from looking at
those results (like realizing
more people said yes because
they liked the product).
So, results are the data you
collect, and findings are what
you understand from that data.

Lastly, we have the conclusion

and recommendations.
Will you read it (students
name).
What is your ideas about what
you read?
Students answer may vary.
Great Job!

When we talk about

conclusions summarize what
the research shows and answer
the research question, while
recommendations are
suggestions for what should be
done next based on the
conclusions.
Let us have an example here.
So we have a data here, these
are the scores of grade 10
students from Mababanaba
National High School

mean for grouped data is

5
71. 214.5
Mean=∑(fxm)/∑f
5
i=4 n=4
5 ∑ fxm=¿ ¿
Now class, the first thing that
we will do is to get the mean of
the scores.
How are we going to get the
mean for the grouped data,
and what is the formula for it?

Great!

To get the mean, we will divide

the sum of fxm to our n.
∑ fxm = 3791.5
n= 45

Mean =
∑ fxm
n
3791.5
=
45
= 84.26 %

This means that 84.26 percent

of the class has an average of
that grade.

Now, we are going to find the

15th percentile rank in the data.

We have a formula here to get

the 15th percentile rank of the
data.

PK = LB + ¿)i
Where:
LB is the lower boundary of the
kth percentile.
k = nth percentile
cfb = cumulative frequency
before the percentile class
fpk = frequency of percentile
class
i = interval or class width

We will find the 15th percentile

first on the scores of the data.
k (n)
Pk =
100
15(45)
=
100
675
=
100
= 6.75 or 7
Now we are going to find the
15th percentile rank in our data.
Since 7 falls on the score of 74-
77, we will get the value of
other terms to get our
percentile.

PK = LB + ¿)i
Where:
LB =73.5
n=45
k = 15
cfb = 3
fpk = 8
i=4

PK = LB + ¿)i
P15 = 73.5 + ¿)4
P15 = 73.5 + ¿)4
P15 = 73.5 + (0.46875)4
P15 = 73.5 + 1.875
P15 = 75.37 ≈ 75

Now, based on the result 15

percent of the 45 students has
grade of ≤75.

4. Discussing new concepts and

practicing new skills #2
To fully understand the
topic, let’s have a group
activity called “Tell Me
the Results: Data Quest”.
5. Developing mastery
The class will be divided
into three (3) groups.
Each group will be given
data that they need to
analyze to find the
6. Finding practical applications
of methodology and provide
concepts and skills in daily living the results, findings, and
conclusions based on the
data.
